Could you quick release from a paraglider or speedwing mid flight and then pull out a base canopy with this system?

If you are high enough for the free fall, sure! But isn't there a special rescue system that's a BASE parachute anyway? I'm sure there is a special harness, that combines hangpoints for glider (made for Acro) and a BASE rig as a kind of cutaway... I think you release the Acro Wing and it's supposed to launch the rig... I'm a bit hazy, it's quite a while ago and I seem to remember they had problems with that system...
