Hey I just had a question and was hoping someone could help me. I drive a 2001 Honda civic and every time I go above 60 in it it starts to vibrate/shake. At first I thought it was tire pressure but I checked that and it’s fine. Thanks again, sorry for the long winded question.

By the way, I've discovered that when something doesn't sell on FB for a while, it gives you the option to "delete and relist" - when it does that it apparently defaults the item to one that has "stock", so if you see something that is obviously not a stocked item as "in stock" it's probably been listed for over several weeks and relisted again using that automated function.

I've been running a quick release for over 10 years now. It's nice having the steering wheel closer to me, not having the damn thing in my legs so I can heel-toe with ease, and being able to get in and out of my vehicle with ease since I'm a tall fucker by nature. Can't say I agree with your statements on quick release. You tailor the car to the driver. Not all of them have all the adjustments necessary for a comfortable driving position from the factory. Especially old Japanese cars. My Miata doesn't even have a tilt column, much less a telescoping one. Someone like me has to have the seat all the way back just to fit in a lot of these old cars, the quick release not only brings the wheel closer to me so my arms aren't over extended, but it makes it so I can get in and out o the vehicle with ease which is a pain with a wheel in place. Also makes it easier to work on under dash bits when I have to do that kind of stuff.

I would only understand a quick release in two situations: 1. You have a full cage with a door bar and it's difficult to enter your car 2. You have two or more wheels that you swap out commonly Like one for daily driving and one for the track or something like that

I want a compilation of all the CCF ADs. They're perfect. Edit: i have a quick release for (sort of) the reasons that were stated by Netgear. After installing it, i discovered that there's an actual bushing for the steering wheel that i can buy. I will eventually replace the setup with the bushing, but it's worth more than the whole QR setup i have for the car. I'm massive and i love small cars, and these are the things i have to do to fit my BRZ

Quick release ONLY makes sense if you have proper bucket seats where it's hard to get in and out of the seats if you have the steering wheel in the way. That's the main reason to have one and I had one just for that reason on my track car a couple of years ago. It looks fuckin' dumb if you have one when you're perfectly capable of getting in and out of your seat without any trouble

Weird story on how I ended up with a quick release hub: Bought a bone stock 1985 CRX Si as my first car when I was 19 years old. Didn't do much to it for a while, but I found that the original steering wheel was just sticky and gross from decades of use. I am slightly taller than some and my knees kept knocking into the wheel. I bought a Mugen steering wheel and an OMP hub spacer. Then I thought it'd be nice to be able to prevent the car from being messed with so I replaced it with a Works Bell quick release hub. Buying genuine parts was very expensive but it feels great and because the Works Bell hub doesn't do the *ding* it doesn't encourage you to be a total dork.

Maybe some bring steering wheels, but others don't. The goal is not to make your car so no one can steal it, it's to make the thief skip your car and go somewhere else

Hey now hold up... my big ol 6'4 as* really likes my quick release wheel as it helps me get more space to get in and out of my bucket seats (by get up I mean hoist myself out of the damn thing as the seat sits right in line with the b pillar). but then again its in my m3 track car and by no means a daily/street car

The people who take their wheel off and hang it out the window while they're driving need to be neutered, but the point of quick release steering wheels as a security item (especially if you get a lock to put on the hub) is just to cost the thief time. Some of us know that if a thief wants your car enough, they'll take it at any cost, but if that few extra minutes makes the difference between me losing my car or catching the thief in the act, I'm taking it. Not every thief is a 'professional' with a flatbed and a quick fix for every little obstacle to a car they've been targeting for weeks; time to them is risk, and I'd rather have that hope of lesser thieves moving on to another car. Being an owner of a '90s Honda, which are well known to be the most stolen cars in the country, I've been thinking of as many little mechanical and electrical ways to cost a thief time as I can. Works Bell quick release is part of that. Leaving a car's security completely untouched, after you've put tens of thousands of dollars into building it, is even more moronic than _not_ doing it just because some people on the internet think the "mod" also happens to be an annoying trend.

how many people do you think that say "quick release is for security" also have a well hidden and well designed cut off switch?
@accord_aero_r
@accord_aero_r Жыл бұрын
@@carfriendsimulator9981 The percentage is probably low given that quick-releases are in fact a popular "mod", I'm only arguing that security _is_ a valid case for a removable wheel, as one part of a multi-step security system. I do happen to also have what I consider to be a clever and well-hidden cut-off switch for the injectors (not so much an actual switch as a little plug I take with me when the car's going to be alone) under the hood, which itself is secured with locking AeroCatches... because main relay cut-off switches are too obvious a trick with Hondas.

I needed a steering wheel spacer to make my wheel fit, quick release was around the same price and does the same thing. Otherwise I'd never have gotten one.

Not sure what this video is even getting at but for my own build on my EK i only add the quick release because its part of my theft prevention security system. Will it stop theives? No! But will it make it harder for them while they try to find my kill switch yes! Also im a bigger dude with some love and taller so its convenient for me to take it in and out when working on the interior and easier for me to get in and out lol. But i do agree the car scene nowadays is crazy right now on the mods and price 😆

I think that the remark on the quick release steering wheel is a debatable subject just because it is a Theft deterrent is an excuse to use one. Not every idiot car thief on the planet is going to be running around with a wheel that is compatible. Also if your racing your car on the track it makes it easier to get out if there is a fire and makes it easy to get the driver out also if they are unconscious. i rest my case!

You can turn the hub by hand without the steering wheel, and heck, just use a pair of vice grips if you really want something to grab on to. Your other argument "pulling people out" is so cope and cringe its hilarious.

Car thief's are opportunists and are going to find a way to violate your car either way. It could be arguable not having a steering wheel on a potential target is one layer of deterrent maybe in you were to go into Target for 10 minutes, but you'll look like an idiot walking around the store with a steering wheel in your hand. And 90% of the quick release runners are doing it on their daily drivers that rarely if ever see the track, and more to that are removing their factory steering wheels with airbags. It's really just a cosmetic mod that satisfies the “my car is a race car” itch that adolescents have, just like installing cages, and tow hooks on the bumpers.
