Long story short I've owned 2 other n15 pulsars, this one was my partners car and luckily it was the only model with a airbag. She was run off the road at 100kmh into a massive tree. The importance of a air bag is what kept her here today. She still has another month before being able to walk again but she's still here... it's not worth pulling a airbag out people!!

Great video as always! I have a small critique about the steering sensitivity terms you used, though. You mentioned that the degrees you turn a smaller wheel will effect the car more than a larger wheel, but I think the degrees turned for small or large would have the same effect. It’s the arc length that your hand would have to move to achieve that degree of turn that will change. So with a larger wheel your hand moves further per degree of rotation since it has a larger perimeter and a longer lever. The longer lever makes it easier to turn the wheel as you mentioned.

Exactly my thought at that very moment. Bigger steering wheel needs more movement from your hands. It doesn't adds up another degrees to existing 360 of them.
@hydrolink5297
@hydrolink5297 2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to point out, that, the bigger the steering wheel, the distance it turns in 1 degree is the same, what actualy changes, is the distance your hand needs to move to turn the same distance. That's because 1 degree is 1/360 of the wheels outter edge, if the outter edge is bigger, each section will get bigger accordingly to fill the whole 360 degrees, but it's still going to be 1/360, you just have to move your hand a longer distance. I loved this video, thank you, Chris!

At 23:36 you could likely utilize the vehicle's internal wiring to the clockspring that were meant for stock steering wheel buttons so you don't have to use an external coil cord wire. You'd just need to get a quick release adapter that has another electrical contact. Actually, you could use the quick release you already have and use the two contacts of the quick release for horn and button and use the body as a common ground. Just like that: Wireless Steering Wheel. If you wanted to get real real fancy you could have a microcontroller embedded in the steering wheel that that uses only a few conductors to talk to another microcontroller on the car side that will allow you to have many different controls on the wheel with only a few conductors through the quick release.

The fact that I was obsessed with quick release wheels and how they can possibly stop car theft (perfect for where I live) and just a 2 minute talk about how you can have a custom wheel that is safe and how the quick release may look cool until your possibly in a wheel chair because you wanted to “look cool” really made me think. and for a bit I was thinking “but everyone dose it and is okay” but when I really thought about how my luck I could end up dead or paralyzed just because I thought it looked cool and was trendy and for some reason whenever I see one I get that thought of crashing or extreme anxiety and like a bad feeling from it, I still love the way they look and I come across some ones that have amazing designs but this short talk about the hazards that Chris did is burned into my head and I don’t even know how to thank him for that, even tho there’s the highs and lows of me getting in a crash if I’m driving completely safe im just glad that Chris brought the custom OEM wheels to light for me, i would damn well rather spend a few hundred more for a safe wheel then to even think about how my daughter or wife would feel or even get hurt all because I made a dumb decision to switch steering wheels all because “the designs look cool”. Anyway im sorry for pouring my heart out on a comment that should of stayed simple but I’m just thankful for Chris always helping me fix me car and stay safe😂🙏🏽

The first video I saw of yours was kicking a football with an airbag and loved it. I looked at your channel and saw that you were right up my alley. I’ve been watching your videos since and learning how to fix cars and engines. I’ve been seeing your progress with all your projects and would like to say congratulations! I am only 13 years old and today I got my first project! It’s a lawn mower engine that’s not running, and I am planning to make a go kart and use your videos to help me! I would like to say thank you so much for teaching me about cars and unlocking my love for engines and cars! Love your channel, keep it up!💪

One of the many reasons I freaking love Chris Fix is because he gets right to the point and his videos are super thorough and easy to understand. Certain other individuals, which I will not name but you all probably know them, will start chatting about stuff that is only somewhat related, then they’ll start telling you their life story, then they’ll start talking politics, then they’ll start talking about about something completely unrelated. By the time their video is done, you’ll have completely missed the 5 second part where they actually covered the subject in the title.

Love how you mentioned that it must still have the airbag. I'd love to have a good aftermarket steering wheel, but always stayed away from it due to needing a HANS/Race seat and Roll Cage. You mentioning that they can be custom modified by some places actually really interests me...Actually wanna look into that now.

A removable steering wheel on my daily driver prevented my car from being stolen for the 10 years that I had it. I had the one with the key and locking cap so another wheel couldn't be put on, to steal the car. The key also makes it impossible to accidentally remove your steering wheel while the car is in motion. Depending on what car you have, and how bad vehicle crime is in your area, you should consider this.

Hey Chris! Amazing video! Just a quick correction: 19:25 the angles are the same no matter the steering wheel. what changes is how much you move your arms in relation to the steering wheel's center. the bigger the wheel, the longer the motion you need to achieve the same rotation degree compared to a smaller wheel.

Hey Chris! Great video as always! Quick question, would you consider adding a auto battery shut off switch? Kinda like the inertia switch, but for your battery? I know you got a lot of safety systems in place but as you say, redundancy is important! Also, this is unrelated but still a good information. I remember your radiator flush video or the one where you replaced the radiator,and you mentioned electrolysis and we learned in school that you can use a multimeter to measure electrolysis in the coolant. First and foremost you want the car cold Then set the meter to DC have the negative cable in the negative terminal of the battery, and use the positive lead of the meter and insert it into the coolant from the radiator. If it shows higher than .4 Volts then you have a problem. Now if you want to find the source of the problem, you can turn on the car, and add individual loads and turn them off, things like heat, AC, lights, etc. and if after turning off one load the voltage stays the same you found the source of the problem. Hope it was informative!

Thanks a lot. I will be installing a battery cutoff. The inertia switch is also a good idea tho! I wonder if there is a down side for a race car? Thanks for the info on the electrolysis
