I sure hope you make more videos just like this! I've recently started working on my own equipment because my shop bills were getting insane! While this is not the issue I'm having the instruction was clear enough and up to date to retain forever vs a monotone video made in the 80's. Great video, great idea, and great instruction thank you! I've subscribed in hopes to follow you on any other repairs on your rig.

Fantastic detailed explanation of that Bendix valve body. Why was a new valve re-manualfactored and not new ?

Good stuff. My trucks doing the same thing as your did. I bought the valve for $30 at the Freightliner dealership yesterday. Looked for some videos on replacement to get some pointers and ran across your video thankfully. The one i got from freightliner is a automann , and has Phillips head screws were the diaphram is and there being a pain. Probably going to have to get out the vice grips to get them off. Thanks again. Update: turns out there are 2 rubber "valves" on these one on the bottom which this guy replaced on his and a smaller one on the top which long story short turned out to be the problem on mine.

I have an International Work Star 7400. When I depress the pedal, I get a massive air dump from a valve right now to the front wheel. I have replaced that valve and it still does the same thing. International has that valve listed as a "valve quick release" PN: 3548736C1. Any ideas what might be causing the air dump?

@HondaCummins29 күн бұрын
I know this is way too late but I haven’t used this account in a long time and just saw this. Anyways, my truck is set up for car hauling and so the fifth wheel is already mounted further back than a normal truck. That combined with sliding it all the way to the rear puts the fifth wheel just behind my rear drive axle.

@HondaCummins5 жыл бұрын
If that’s what’s with the truck then yes, replace it. But if it is a sporadic it may be a different issue. Maybe a bad brake chamber diaphragm or garbage in the system.
@sonnyskustoms5 жыл бұрын
@@HondaCummins Alright thanks boss I hope it's not the brake chambers that are linked up to the system but I will do some troubleshooting How would I be able to flush out the system to clean all tha crud that might be in there?
@HondaCummins5 жыл бұрын
Le0 Corleone replacing a brake chamber is fairly cheap and easy. There’s plenty of videos on how to do it. If it is just a brake chamber diaphragm then that is even easier and cheaper. As for cleaning out the system, the only way I know of how to do it is the hard/time consuming way. Disconnect both ends and or disassemble everything and blow it out.

Just did the same thing put new part on and still leaking just the same as the old one. What happened?
@HondaCummins4 жыл бұрын
Did the rubber diaphragm inside the valve have holes or cracks in it? If so then it was bad anyways. Regardless, sounds like your problem is further up the line. Try pinching off (like a garden hose) each line to the brake chambers one at a time while the air is leaking. If that slows or stops the air leaks you found the chamber(s) causing the leak.
@brantleyhester66414 жыл бұрын
HondaCummins I replaced the diaphragm, the whole part actually, still dumping air when I release the brake. But thanks for the reply and idea. I'll do that and see what happens. Man thank you so much. If that does or doesn't work I'll let you know
@brantleyhester66414 жыл бұрын
HondaCummins It's the ABS Relay that's dumping air when I release the brake. I've replaced it and it's still doing it. Any thoughts on why it's doing that?
@HondaCummins4 жыл бұрын
Brantley Hester my guess is still the brake chambers. Did you pinch the lines yet?
@brantleyhester66414 жыл бұрын
HondaCummins yes, could it possibly be more than one? It's dumping air like opening a valve on an air tank. Tried pinching each line. Going to do it again, maybe I didn't get them closed off completely

Why would you go to all that trouble and not change the valve
@HondaCummins Жыл бұрын
Because you have to take off multiple lines making the job take longer and also creating potential air leaks on each line. The only other piece to the valve is the body itself which is made from aluminum. Only way for that to fail is physical damage like cracking. I fixed what is wrong, I don’t just throw parts at it.
