Happy Easter... My few problems are, having my hair dangle won't work unless I have the head independent, but it I do that my body flies of the screen. Also my head will not tilt from side to side when my head is not independent, but will work perfect when I remove the dangle from my hair. I had my arms working perfectly , but after I shut the program down, and reopened it the next day my arms do not want to work properly any more, as in the elbow bend is messed up. Next problem I want to go create my head turn, but my head layer for some reason keeps wanting to put itself in the face background file instead of in the head folder, so creating the head turn art is difficult. When I move the head art to the appropriate folder it messes up the face artwork and won't let it appear even if I move it to the head folder. Then trying to create the walk on top of this is even more difficult because changing parameters in the walk will not keep my feet from stretching. I am thinking that I am try to add to many things to my character. Could that be the problem? BTW enjoy your easter and answer whenever you can. oh and another also... how do we send you our characters to review and find fixes?

Hard to diagnose stuff like this here - for more direct help, please post a screenshot, video, or File > Export > Puppet (.puppet file) to adobe.com/go/chfeedback. Yes, I'd stay start simple and build up from there. Walking for a first puppet is probably a little too complex, but simple dangles should be okay. If you set up the dangles just like the girl character in kzbin.info/www/bejne/il6apod_m72Kbqc it should work.

whats driving me crazy is the nutcracker jaw/jaw movement. I have really pretty advanced puppets in every other way but the jaw never works right. It's not totally clear to me if we should bother adding the behavior anymore since now it's been added to lip sync as jaw movement. So fine I do that. I put a fixed bar above the jaw and a jaw bar underneath the mouth all on the 'head background layer', and it still moves things above the upper jaw, or warps the mouth. It's always something moving that shouldn't be, driving me mad. So I can't use it and it really detracts a nice detail from all my puppets. Per the last video I've made the mouth, nose, eyes, everything independent that I can and things still not warping right. (I have to make them for 5 head turns. sometimes I make a jaw/bar in one head and it distorts things in other angles! doesn't make any sense.) my puppets are otherwise so organized.
@okaysamurai3 жыл бұрын
So if you don't include anything tagged jaw you won't get any jaw movement, it's a totally optional thing. And Nutcracker Jaw is a completely separate behavior that has nothing to do with the lip sync jaw movement parameter. If it is warping other parts, try making those parts independent. Where you place the jaw tag, fixed handles, and independent parts will all have a dramatic effect on jaw movement. If it persists, please post a screenshot, video, or File > Export > Puppet (.puppet file) to adobe.com/go/chfeedback for more help.

@@okaysamurai Still radio silence on the boards. I've tried everything and I feel like I'm close but still stuck. I have a "frontal" group to get the better neck rotation, then a head group under it, head turns all work fine. then in the head group I have R profile, R quarter, Center, L quarter, and L Profile (and down, seems irrelevant). I've finally noticed a difference. In the right profile layer there is no number after it (in the "number of handles on this puppet category") and this is the ONLY head where the jaw works right. in the other head direction layers they all have a 1 next to it. that tells me there is some handle on them in some way interfering with the jaw. I can't find any way from here in the layers panel for it to take me to this "handle" it claims is on those layers. I see no such handles anyplace in the layers. They all have two handles on the face background layer for the jaw, obviously but so does the working one with no "1" next to the top "right Profile" name. So i don't understand what this "1" means now next to the rest of them, it shows no handles or tags anyplace in them and you can't click into that number to show where that handle is. Does that make sense?
@okaysamurai3 жыл бұрын
Okay - I think the issue is most likely the extra Frontal for the better neck rotation - my best guess is since you essentially have two frontals, one for the extra head and one for the head turning, there's some competition between the two. I say this because I just tried adding the jaw to each view on Turner from okaysamurai.com/puppets and it worked (via the default lip sync jaw movement). So I'm wondering if the neck hack thing isn't compatible with this? Usually if only the first layer/group in the stack is the only one working, the behavior is only seeing the first instance and for whatever reason ignoring the others. Having Turner work make me think that's the problem.
@renatus1233 жыл бұрын
@@okaysamurai I wondered if that might be it, i think the jaw behavior is looking for the jaw in the first "head" and maybe not the others below it, it works for other puppets of mine too without the neck hack. Maybe in a future version the neck thing can be worked into it in some fundamental way and include that jaw function again? thanks for the help, I was losing my mind, and theres no one else advanced in this to turn to, at least for confirmation. Really, really appreciate it!

I've searched everywhere and I can't seem to find if you go into particles in any great detail. I've learned from all the physics based episodes but I need help with particles. I am trying to make water particles continuously drip from a water based character. I have created a droplet and placed two at each heal and one at each wrist so it appears he is dripping when he stands or moves to add more life. I need for it to begin immediately and continuously through the scene. I have tried point and shoot and cannon on continuous with between 2 and 5 particles per second, bounciness 2. I've tried variations with dangle and or magnet to get it to act more aquatic. I just can seem to make it look right and when I render, the particles do not show in the video. I welcome ANY recommendations from ANYONE. Thank you community!!! I love you!
@daniellecriss84093 жыл бұрын
Could placement be an issue? I have the droplets inside the arm and leg groups as I wanted the particles to follow those limbs in particular. Should they be placed elsewhere?
@okaysamurai3 жыл бұрын
Particles are tricky and it's a behavior I haven't personally used much outside of the tutorials to be honest. Another good working example of particles is the chicken blaster from the CH home screen. If I remember correctly, particles can run into issues if they start in a collision state, which can be hard to troubleshoot. That's the best off the top of my head - if it persists, please post a screenshot, video, or File > Export > Puppet (.puppet file) to adobe.com/go/chfeedback for more help.

If all of your characters have the exact same structure (layer / group names, height, etc.) it should work - just swap the PSD or AI file. But if there are any structural or major art changes, it won't work because CH can't reconcile the differences. 95% of the time it's better to just re-rig/record for each individual puppet.

If you see a green dotted line, that means the part can't find something non-independent to attach to. If you drag over top of a green overlay instead, the dotted line will go away. If there are any mouth-related triggers, I would try deleting them to see if it changes anything. I would also make sure everything is in a group called "Mouth" and all the mouth shapes are tagged as well. If it persists, please post a screenshot, video, or File > Export > Puppet (.puppet file) to adobe.com/go/chfeedback for more help.
@josephmcdermott56133 жыл бұрын
@@okaysamurai right now I don't have any triggers involving the mouth. I checked the tags and it says there are 3 mouths per shape (frontal, right quarter and left quarter). I'll try posting on that link later if I can find time to. Thanks!

I don't have them other than the ones that are in puppets like Evan Flamethrower. They were originally made by a company called POW Studios but I believe they're out of business now. If you look up sprite sheets or png sequences online you might be able to find additional resources like this.

@@okaysamurai Oh, Thank you so much!! Also thanks to this particular video I also managed to fix an issue that you might have seen in the video. If you looked closely you saw that the robot could only move his arms and his head. The rest of the body would just stay in the same place almost like a mummy. That was becuz I enabled a crown on the whole head group. So this time I disabled the crown on the head group and enabled the crown on the individual head modes (standard & frontal) and now his body also moves along with his head which I like more.

Well I'm very frustrated. Spent many hours creating a cartoon and then after outputting to Media Encoder, both applications crashed, and when I opened up the Character Animator program again, none of the triggers are working now. They show up on the timeline, but nothing works. What's the issue??? They show up in the Triggers list and in the Replay panel but nothing works...I was using the Beta version of Character Animator. There's about 20 triggers I created.
@okaysamurai3 жыл бұрын
Make sure the character is armed in the timeline and the triggers behavior is armed on the right. Those would be the most common reasons you're not seeing them live. Hi Dave! After making a few minor tweaks in my character's PS file, the character's head is suddenly floating far above his body. Sadly, this isn't the first time this has happened either. Any idea what's going on?
@okaysamurai8 ай бұрын
Sometimes adjustments to the original artwork, especially ones that change the character dimensions to make them taller or wider, can be misinterpreted by CH when you resync. My fix has always been to just manually move the affected groups/layers in CH rig mode. It's an annoying bug but hopefully is one that gets squashed one day.

What you see in AE should be the same in CH, that's strange. If you click the red dot next to the character's name in the timeline and play it back, that's exactly what should show up in AE. If it isn't, please let us know - sounds like a bug - please post a screenshot, video, or File > Export > Puppet (.puppet file) to adobe.com/go/chfeedback.

When the artwork contents change in a file, sometimes CH has trouble reconciling the old rigging to the new art.
