Seat belt latches make for some interesting experiment ideas! I have some below: - How many seat belt latches are needed to tow a car? Maybe use seat belt latches to attach or pull a long trailer to go with the log truck. - Substitute seat belt latches for engine and transmission mounts to see how fast you can pull a drivetrain - Use seat belt latches to hold a head down on an engine block and see if it will run.

actually amazing ideas

Fun fact on your first point, the answer is one. In fact, the seatbelts are so strong I've seen a car lifted by one getting scrapped. I used a seatbelt to yank a Chevy 6.0 last year 😅 seatbelts are incredibly strong.
@siraff44618 ай бұрын
In the US the minimum breaking force is 22,000n so you could probably tow quite a heavy car without any problems at all. Infact you're likely to pull the towing eye out first.

It's kinda impressive, but if it were real, it would have to last much longer and in crazier conditions than it did here. So the question isn't, does it stay on for a few minutes, but instead, does it stay for 100k+ miles.

It would be hard to get the wheel off. At least with this design, they have that 4 pronged tool to detach all of them at once. Those air fittings can be a pain in the ass without a wheel in the way.

I'm amazed it didn't break, I know they're rated for some incredible forces but in normal uses those forces would be in particular directions and very different to the forces in this case. I thought the sideways motion (rather than traditional "pulling" motion) would break them for sure, but apparently not!
@Yukanhayt-Mhenow8 ай бұрын
I did too but then realized they machined studs to tightly fit the stud holes to prevent any sideways force on the buckles, they just prevent the wheel being pulled out away from the car.

@themetalslayer22608 ай бұрын
they're testing the welds because these latches can handle tons (during a crash you can whistand until 30G during a tenth of a second so 70kg x 30G = 2100kg for one latch and one of these latches stoped my 100kg++ during a crash so these latches can handle something like 5 tons each, so they're testing the welds not the quick release mechanism)
