Great update, Dom! Your tree looks very healthy and seems to have grown a lot! Great to see at least one scion is doing well. It's strange that the other one had stayed fresh but hadn't joined onto the rootstock. Perhaps you could re-attempt to graft it onto another branch?

Thanks, Peter. I'm releived to see one scion 'appears' to have taken and is forming leafs at the tip. It is strange that I had a scion remain green since october but didn't fuse ... When I removed it I noticed it was wet at the union. Obviously rain water had been trapped there which caused the graft to fail but also allowed the scion to remain alive. I'm thinking I could re-try but I don't know if I won't to mutilate my tree any more. 😂. I'll mull it over tonight.

Thx, Kee. It's a South London tree situated in a private back garden. My brother discovered it some years back, check out his video of the tree and taste test of the fruit.

Your seed grown tree looks phenomenal now Dom, did you mention previously what fruit it came from ? A Hass ? Frustrating when grafts fail but i know that even professional avocado grafters have a fairly high failure rate. Once my seedlings are larger I'll certainly try again 😂

I started growing this in the days before I paid much attention to avocado varieties. I just buried the seed in the garden and got this random seedling ... It's very hardy though and has survived 2 severe winters and snow events. It is frustrating when graphs fail but I'm thankful that I may have one that made it ... hopfeully this will serve has a source for future scions. The London acocado is one I really want in my little collection.

Fantastic looking avocado tree Dominic. That corner appears to be an ideal location for the plant. Congratulations on the success on one of your graft. Maybe a spring grafting when the plant is fully out of dormancy might have increased the yield. How old is the plant and what compost are you using?

Thanks, Mike. I'm relieved that the graft seems to have taken. I use a ready made product called 'Gold Label Special Mix' .. Its a peat-based mix with added perlite. I buy it from hydroponic stores and it costs around £13 for a 50L bag. Amazon also have it but it's 2x the price. I may add some regular compost and worm castings as a top dressing now the plant has a healthy root system.

@@myexoticfoodplants6727 Cool ... if you have a look for your local hydroponic store they will likely have 'Gold Label Special Mix' in stock ... They they don't, they should be able to order it in.
