Love that top with that skirt. You look awesome in it! This weekend I'm visiting my daughter, so the only sewing I'm doing is a bit of hand mending on her purse for her. I did see something that gave me an idea though. I have two t-shirts, a flower print with a white background that is too light for my complexion, and a lavender one that goes perfectly with some of the flowers. I'm thinking about upcycling them into a t-shirt dress with the flowery shirt as the skirt. I'll have to look at it and see if there's enough material to do it right. They just look so good together. I'm going camping at the end of June for my best friend's 60th birthday. If you don't like air mattresses, try a cot or even a chaise lounger lawn chair laid flat with a yoga mat on it.

Keep being you and sewing what you like, we all get inspiration from you and we love you because you sew what we all wear. Sewing for content only is a waste of fabric and why make clothes you will never wear?! I'm so excited for you to go camping, like you that's how we started and I love going back to it every now and again. 👏🏼⛺️. It's such fun, we do use an air bed so can't help you on bed advice but don't forget everything gets damp and condensation at night! You've made me want to get ours back out again now. I like cots! My son slept on a cot for over 2 years in our camper because he grew out of the bed. I made him a cushion to go on top of it, but the cot was pretty comfortable.

We camp in a tent all the time. I agree cot is better than air mattress. We converted over to cots after many malfunctioning air mattresses. We have the short cots ( backpacking cots) because we have a smaller tent. I also agree camping is one of the best family times. Enjoy your trip!

We always slept on an airbed. We raised our kids tent camping but hubby and I don't do that anymore. After the last trip when it rained and our tent leaked - drip drip on my forehead. Your shorter top is more flattering - love your outfit!

Beautiful outfit! Love the color. I usually cut of the excess off the hem and use an inch hem . I used to use a twin needle but recently bought a Babylock Coverstitch. Truly a game changer

Hi Stephanie. My evolution has gone from backpacking with a very thin ensolite pad to camping with a very thin Thermarest pad, then camping with the biggest 'delux' Thermarest pad (over an inch thick), to now not being able to sleep on the ground without flaring up my neck and back. The Thermarest pads are expensive but worth it (as long as you're not going to just use it once). They're great if grandkids come to sleep over on the floor too. It sounds like a lovely time camping with family coming up, Antonia

One year when my kids were little… I had my trailer packed early. (Which never ever happens). We finished work on a Friday all my husband had to do was fill the water tanks. The line inside my trailer burst and flooded our trailer😳we ran to the store and bought four cots by timberline (I think) and a tent and still had a great time! There are backpacking air pads that inflate with out a pump that create a softer bed. Or go to Walmart and cut a twin egg crate mattress to fit you can put a sheet on top. Happy camping! I've slept on a cot I found at a thrift store. It wasn't bad. I've slept on fancy long lawn chairs... Those canvas ones that fold into 3 the ones that don't have arm rests. I say go for it. Just bring booze. It'll be more comfy after a few.

My husband i built a green house 3or 4 years ago it is a big job but we got it up and we use it a lot my husband loves it i love your skirt i love a long skirt but my sister doesn't like them long and she has kind of put me off but when i saw yours on i love it so i think that is going to be my next project have fun camping

Hi, I love your skirt and top! I don't know how tall you are, but the 1/3 - 2/3 rule is a safe bet. You're a brave lady tenting. I suggest a 4" memory foam for your cot. Might be pricey, but worth it. You can resuse it on the floor if you have too many house guests or kids sleeping over. And someone suggested flannel sheets which is a very good idea or get a very cold rated sleeping bag with flannel lining. Good luck! Our trees leafed out a little over a week ago and the blossoming ones blossomed about 3 days ago. It'll be a long time before we are eating garden veggies. Enjoy. 🌷🌷🌷Bernadette

The best cots I ever had was Coleman brand. I think they lasted at least 30 years for us and finally wearing out. I don't know if their made with the same quality now.

I agree, the shorter tank looked better proportion wise with the long skirt. It makes you 1/3 top and 2/3 legs. Like you I prefer short skirts but I think it may just be a freer feel. I would have died in Victorian or Edwardian, tight-waisted, high necked, heavy skirted outfits with long, tight sleeves.

I have never been camping but I have slept on the floor with my grands many years ago....I could barely get up the next day and I would NEVER sleep on anything but an air mattress. The one we have is double thickness and I barely get off of it now...I am almost 70 and I try not to do anything that makes me have extra pain.

I like a cot with a thin self-inflating mattress to insulate from the cold. I make a fitted "sheet" to go over the whole thing...flannel is comfy if it's cool. A sleeping bag is to enclosing for me, so I have that sheet on the bottom, and just layer on the blankets and quilts, comforters, etc. I like it warm! If you have a king comforter, you can fold it in half for your cot. Let some length fall over the sides, that way it will curve around you! This is what I love. I like to sit on the cot to dress, and it's easy to get up and down. I think I'm older than you, so I know you can do it! Enjoy your family! Hugs! Peggy Store stuff under the bed, too!
