The leaves are falling here a little earlier than usual and it's not too cool yet, but I know it's coming...🥶! I used to sew at our dining room table, where we also ate all our meals, so had to keep setting up and then clearing everything away. Now I sew in my son's old room and it is so wonderful to have a place where I can store everything and leave everything set up all the time for sewing. Congratulations to Evelyn! The rosary pouch you made for your friend is lovely and I'm sure she'll treasure it.

Growing up I learned to sew at the kitchen table. I continued that set up until my kids moved out. We bought this house 18 years ago w/o kids so I claimed one of the bedrooms for sewing/crafts. I remember when I first met you working in your closet covering your cushions. I was looking for ideas on how to cover mine. I was excited to find someone else who had a tent trailer! Today I'm taking a lot of what you've said about having a "Real" sewing room being such a blessing to heart. This morning I'm re-claiming my sewing room. I really appreciate your message today. I feel encouraged to get busy and finish this job!!!

I remember sewing is a small walk-in closet, then the dining room, then a guest bedroom and now a dedicated SEWING ROOM. Hurray.

I was into dbp too especially when it was at its height of popularity a few years ago. You are right about the prints being so pretty. But I soon realized that I just couldn't tolerate wearing it. So I'm in my natural phase too. I also just realized that I want more of a core wardrobe of solids too.

I bought my Singer 401A when I was 18 and started sewing in my hallway of my small apartment & then in our finished attic of our first home. Currently I have my sewing room in one of the bedrooms I took over after our daughter move out. Love it and my machines have grown to 5! Love your black skirt, a great staple in a wardrobe.

Oh my goodness Stephanie!!! The more I watch you, the more I realize how much we are alike 😃😃 I don't have a black dress either! And I make lots of print dresses. I DID get rid of ALL of my polyester fabrics over 10 years ago. Main reason...where I live now is in the South! Middle of Arkansas! Hot and Humid for at least 2 seasons of the year! Thinking it was going to be Fall, and I'm SOOOOOOOOO READY for cooler weather...I started sewing Fall clothing. But NO! It is 97 degrees today!!!🥵🥵🥵 Can never trust the weather here. Basically, polyester is way too hot for where I live. And of course that chemical thing! So I stick with natural fibers like silk, cotton, wool, rayon/viscose, linen etc. Many of them now are OEKO-TEX certified organic and it makes such a big difference! The fabric is high quality, lasts far longer than other fabrics and is so wonderful to wear. As for Ponte...I've learned to look for fabric content; Rayon, Nylon with a little Spandex. That fabric is AMAZING and does NOT pill like poly does! It's perfect for skirts, pants, jackets and dresses. It also comes in lighter weights too! perfect for those "core wardrobe" pieces 👍👍 I know how difficult it is to "start all over" trying to collect the right kinds of fabrics. I seriously over-bought way too much fabric!!! So, I would be willing to share some with you so you can get started. Just let me know 😉😊 Love your channel. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! I am right there with you on fabric. I don’t sew with knits mainly due to the polyester content of so many of them. Darn if I’m going to take time and effort to make a top that will pill within a couple washings. Ponte with rayon is great, lasts forever.

I started switching to natural fibers couple years ago, I also decided to wear more dresses instead of pants and shorts. I’ve made 2 pinafore jumpers by Sew Liberated in linen blend. I found Merino blend fabric for another jumper, Mood Fabric was having a sale. When I put on polyester, i start sweating profusely.

I’m interested in doing a core wardrobe like I saw in another of your videos. Can you suggest a good, reasonably priced place to get bamboo knits? I had never heard of bamboo knits until you talked about them.

@@patwinkeller9254 Hi Pat, so far, I’m having good luck with Etsy, the two shops I’ve bought from are branded USA and Koshtex. I love the ones from hartsfabrics.com, but they are pricy. And I also found good deals on naturesfabrics.com Happy hunting! 🩵🩵🩵

That is a fantastic color for you, you look great! You've got a nice core wardrobe started. When you're looking at prints, look for coordinating solid colors at the same time, so you'll have more options for outfits. Something that occurred to me when you were talking about the natural fibers. What about the dyes they use? I think I need to do some research on that. I've got a she-shed in the back yard for my sewing room, and it's a disorganized mess right now, but I hate going out there. It feels so isolated from the house. I need to get some music or something to make it more comfortable.

My life has been pretty busy chasing after my three-year-old grandson for a few days, returning him back home on a six hour trip one way, coming back home and finding out that my uncle had passed away. We scurried around to get reservations to say for two nights and took off on a five hour trip. We are home for two weeks getting ready to attend a friend’s son’s wedding and then the next weekend heading to Michigan for a niece’s wedding. That wedding is in Michigan and we will leave from there to go to straight to our daughter’s (with the three-year-old) because she will be induced to have a baby girl. We are kind of road weary, But with lots of prayer we will persevere. We are very thankful because we didn’t even know if they would have another baby. And she will also be my second granddaughter. The oldest granddaughter and grandchild, Is thrilled because she was the only girl.
