The E-flite® Apprentice® STS 1.5m is based on one of the very best platforms ever designed for learning to fly radio controlled (RC) airplanes-the legendary Apprentice S 15e. That model's large size made it an ideal choice for better visibility and the ability to handle more wind while learning to fly at an RC club flying field, and its inherently stable design plus exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology made it easy to fly successfully-especially with the help of an instructor. The Apprentice STS 1.5m is a modern-day evolution of the world's favorite club trainer that includes all the same great features while adding Smart components including an ESC, battery and charger (battery and charger sold separately for the BNF® Basic version), along with the option to add SAFE Plus® GPS-enabled technology and the all-new Landing Assist Sensor (LAS), to make learning to fly easier-and more fun-than ever before!

I tried flying my apprentice s 15e, on a windy day, it didn't go to well, it got caught in a thermal and I couldn't get it out of it, so it got away from me, so I watched it fly away, it was found in a farmers field 5 miles away still intact, and I got it back, so I named her windy

Nobody has had a question about the location of the CG (Center Of Gravity) the manual states it is measured from the front edge of the wing and should be tested by balancing near the fuslage. The problem is that the wing edge is not the same over the entire length of the aircraft there is about a 1/4 inch step in as the wing goes toward the fuslage. So the question is where on the front edge of the wing is the referenced CG dimension. Maybe it won't make that much of a difference but I had this question.

I'm a total newbie and I'm thinking about getting this apprentice 1.5 in the RTF kit. My question is; if I enjoy this and want to take the next step and upgrade to the Habu STS, can I get the PNP Habu version and use the guts from this Apprentice to save some cash or are the electronics totally different. I understand I'd need a better battery but Im just not sure with the receiver, flight controller etc. Thanks for any help!

Is it possible to hot glue or super glue the wings down to the body instead of rubber bands? Beautiful airplane!

@horizonhobbysupport I received this Equipment several weeks ago. My assembly process came to a grinding halt when I noticed that the Tailplane was not firm. It had a free play both vertically and horizontally. When I gently lift the aircraft by holding the tip of the Vertical Stabiliser, I see a gap of about 10mm-12mm gap between the Tail Assembly and the fuselage. Then, I let go of the Vertical Stabiliser. The aircraft rests on it Landing Gear. Now, once again, I hold the upper edge of the Vertical Stabiliser and move it Left-Right. The Tail Plane moves several degrees in each direction. I have got Safe-plus (GPS) and Landing Assistance Sensor (LAS) installed, But I am not sure if they can compensate for the aforesaid free play. Another problem. I placed the fully charged battery (4000mAh) as instructed, turned on the Transmitter and then the Airplane. It goes through the motions. The control surfaces respond. But there is a continuous beep. I have not yet attached the propellor. But still, the motor should respond to the throttle liver. Right? But it does not. What could be causing this problem? There are so many switches on the transmitter. Should they each be in definite positions? Any advice is welcome! PS I have reported the Free Play of the Tail Plane to the Online Tech Support team. The agent acknowledged there is a problem. Sent me an e-mail requesting the details and photographs. I have sent them. A week on, there is still no response. Another issue. One of the three screws that hold the Nose Cone in place is missing. I reported this problem also. The agent declined to send a few screws and suggested that I buy the Cowl which is accompanied by those three of those screws ($4.99 and with Shipping and Taxes $10.99). Customer Service?

Hi there, I have 2 sts apprentices the first one is a bit bashed up but still flies so I got myself a new one now I’m better at flying it. My question is- I have only the sts programmed into my tx. Can I fly both aircraft using just the one stored aircraft in my menu or do I have to make a second sts model in my tx. I’m using the DX6 Gen3 Regards Dave North Yorkshire Engksnd

Hello Dave! You can use the same model for both planes, you would just need to rebind when switching between them. If you used two separate models there would be no need for rebinding. Safe Flying!

@@horizonhobbysupport thanks for that info. Is it possible to copy and paste my first sts model settings so I don’t have to rebind when swapping planes or do I have to start over and just make a second sts model in my tx menu. Thanks Dave

I need advise on the CG. I understand it's 79.0mm back from the leading edge of wing but how far off of the fuselage? The manual doesn't give a dimension. Not sure I should go as close to the fuselage as possible, 1/2" off, 1" off, or what? Does it matter? Thank you

I have studied the sts instruction manual many times and still have not figured out how the flaperons work the person I bought it from said that it have those kind of functions and I have been very disappointed because the pushrod on the elevator was broken and I have to get a club to fix it and I am very disappointed in this plane.

can I bind another eflite receiver to the transmitter? I have another safe receiver in another plane and was going to use it with my dx7s but it would be easier if it would bind to this one

There are different preset profiles for various BNF aircraft if that's where the safe receiver came from. Here is a video showing you how to switch between: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWjMgJ6ZbZKdmpI Ultimately the dx7s is a fine transmitter and more capable/designed to handle multiple models!
