This works well in various folder structures when you're working with other programs on the same project where say, After Effects files are pulling the renders from a common assets folder. You can use ../../ to go back two directories. Then there's tokens! :)

Hi there! Is there a way to set up a relative path for textures by default? Like I go to diffuse->tex->and when I choose the .whateverextension file, it gets it from a relative path instead of abslute? Everytime I take my projecto to another comp, textures or footages are gone and I have to relink them.

As long as there is a folder called "tex" at the same location as the project file, C4D will find them.

@@DIGITALMEAT Thanks for quick reply man :) Yeah sorry, I knew about tex, but I don't like it to much as it creates a copy of everything from its original source. I always wondered if there is a way to store your textures in a custom path and C4D searches for it in a relative path. Just like AE would do, for example.

@@ignaciosagrario if u go to preferences > files > u can add your assets folder there so you don´t have them on the tex folder all the time

Unfortunately, relative paths don't work if you use Render Queue and you want to save renders in the parent folder.

A work around is naming a take like the relative path (../) and add the token for a take to the file name.
