What Mike said about barrels with rifling gone most the way up and still shoot. How true. Just look at that British 303 #4. I've seen some barrels that were in the wall hangers division and still shoot good groups at 100 to 200 yards. Nothing fantastic but good enough to feed a person and family. Not to mention the chamber on many so large reloading it is pushing the envelope. But they shoot good never the less. And now with modern steels and manufacturing it just gets better. Thank you for the video.

Nothing wrong with cleaning your weapons. Do they need it? No, but I like mine ready to go as hard as needed, that means clean and lubed. As far as doing harm, how can cleaning do more damage than sending rounds through the barrel at high rates(which I rarely do).

When it comes to the gas ring test by standing the bolt up, does that apply to an AR10 bcg as well? I’ve noticed it collapses under its own weight but assumed it’s because of the higher weight of a 308 bcg, and I haven’t had any cycling issues with it
@MickeyD2012
@MickeyD2012 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the design of the AR-10 is mechanically virtually identical to the AR-15. You should replace your gas rings. AR-10 style rifles often have little things that need work because they haven't had the same amount of development as the AR-15 family.
@msquared9605
@msquared9605 Жыл бұрын
@@MickeyD2012 so worn out gas rings should roughly equate to undergassed right? I would assume they would allow gas to leak out. But in my gun, I typically have overgassed ejection with 308 ammo and perfect ejection with 7.62 ammo

A wet BCG flies in the face of everything we were taught in the Corps. Only now, decades later, I wonder if running our A2’s with only one atom thick of oil was the Marine way to get new rifles? After all, if running them wet as recommended here would extend their life, we would never get new pews right?
@timriley302

It wasn't until some time after getting out of the army that I was told you don't need to pick, scrub, wipe, swab, etc. after so much as 1 round is fired. Anyone who has been in the military will probably tell you that there are days where you and your platoon will just clean weapons ALL day. Come to find out you're probably doing more harm than good for those rifles.

Its hard to find good info and believe it or not there are more and more people keeping a true accurate round count of their primary weapons.

AR's don't need to be wet to run. Such a stupid thing to keep repeating. The Army put out very specific guidance on when to use more lube than what the -10 calls for, excessive lube will do nothing but increase bolt thrust forces to levels that will ensure premature bolt failure.
