$9 for the rod and $66 for the Geissele logo on it. What a steal. /s

Buy a precision ground drill rod from McMaster-Carr of a diameter that will fit within the lands of the bore you're checking. It will work exactly the same way to the same level of precision and cost you 1/10th of the money they're charging for this.

7/32 drill rod or drill bit x 12" $4.00 at my cnc shop its .21875 which is .00025 off the lands of a 556 bore .219. A TIGHT 556 can would be .275 there isn't enough play in drill rod to justify this. Geissele is great, but no need to push obsurd tools when an old gunsmith probably has a cheaper way of doing it.

The Geissele Suppressor Alignment Rod is held to +\- .0001" not just on the diameter, but also over the length of the rod. It is incredibly straight and difficult to make (It's straight to +/- .0001" over the length of the Rod!). Which is why it's so expensive. A lathe would not be able to keep it that straight over the entire length of the 15" Rod. Our Rod is gage quality, not a run of the mill bar stock cut down. While this tool is not for everybody, it's good to have the piece of mind that you won't get a baffle strike on your new suppressor! Hope this helps!
@jasondegraff446 жыл бұрын
So you forging this out in a die? to check for suppressor alignment... Who approved that? The tool cost alone is why these things cost so much if its not made on a lathe. I hope a lot of PMCs, LEOs, and Mils buy these for there armorers because I dont see this being a big need.

I bought the same Giesslie rod and checked my suppressor. It is not concentric with the bore. How can I fix the issue? I'm using the ASR muzzle brake.
@TheFlyingZulu2 жыл бұрын
You'll need to check your shims... If your shims get off centered and crushed it can cause alignment issues with the muzzle brake.
