Thank you for answering my question ! I’ve started to tell people I never paint something I’ve never practiced, because I don’t want them to be disappointed in the results. Love your response to the logo issue. ❤ I feel validated!

I'm so glad you feel validated! Logos are my least favorite request.

Ariel... sweetheart, thank you.. from the bottom of my heart! For giving us all the knowledge that someone as good as you are firstly - refuses to make her life harder... in effect, giving us newbies that... and secondly - using your phone to look up images! I really thought if I did that, it would be kind of 'cheating' - thank you again for the permission! XO

Oh that's so interesting that you thought that. I can see why you would hesitate. Sometimes when I use my phone I get nervous that parents are thinking I"m texting or something but I make sure to talk to the kid the entire time and make it a discussion with them. Haven't had an issue or complaint but I can totally understand your hesitation. Thank you for your comment and for watching! 💕

This is such an important topic. I learned the hard way to proceed with caution with special requests. Some kids come up with the wackiest things! Sometimes it's really fun when there's time, or you have a regular customer and you have a good rapport. I'm a pretty confident artist, but there's always a risk. If I'm willing to try, I excitedly say "I've never done a ____before! I'm willing to try!" Sometimes that scares them off, but often they are excited too. And I feel like it sets the expectation that it may not be as polished as the things on my menu. Also, I have been there with the monkey. Never again.
@Arielpaints2 жыл бұрын
Yes! That's a good one. One of the gals I work with says "We can try" and I think that conveys a very specific message that this is going to be an experiment. Great tip! Oh man that monkey...it's my nemesis at this point.

Thank you so much for the helpful tips!! Yes, sports logos are a huge thorn in my side. 🤪 I'm in the Buffalo area, so I'm asked to do the Bills logo a lot. I don't care for football either, and the blue leaping buffalo is not easy to paint! My boards are in desperate of updating, so I'm going to include a football eye design with Bills colors, and/or "#17" (Josh Allen) with hearts or lips stenciled around it. I figure if people see that, they will be excited about it, and forget about the logo 😁 Other alternatives I could offer are Zubaz stripes, or eye black in Bills colors. I've also used team colors for butterflies and tigers, and the customer is always pleased!

Using team colors in another design is a great idea. Thank you for sharing that and watching.

When I first started face painting 6 years ago your videos were so helpful and some of my favourites! I learned a lot from you. All these years later and you’re still putting out useful and inspiring content. Fabulous! Thank u x

Yup. Sometimes the parents are into it. An 8yr old girl wanted me to paint her whole face like a huge eyeball. It was actually her dad's idea, wouldn't you know. I did it. I painted a black spot 3" in diameter, centered between her eyes, and the iris was the size of a small saucer. She got too impatient to allow for much detail, so I wasn't too proud of my results. However, the little girl and her whole family were delighted.

Thank you so much for all your videos, I'm at the very start of my journey, just considering whether face painting could be a viable business for me, and I think I've watched 90% of your videos at this point 😂 I had my first practice run at my daughter's birthday party this week and a kid asked for a rainbow cat. I hadn't practiced that, didn't really know what I was doing but I gave it a go anyway- it was horrendous 🙈

Oh no...I'm so so sorry. I've painted plenty of absolutely horrible designs. The think is people don't post those. Same way they don't post their kids breakdown at Target...only the cute thing they did instead. Just keep learning and practicing.

hi i have a question about water. when you are painting at an event and you need water, do you usually bring water with you for easy access or take some from the event area itself even if its far away like how do you manage the water supply and ensure you have enough for the whole event. i dont know if you understand but yeah 😅
@olivianeukam5636 Жыл бұрын
I usually bring a jug of water with me. It's pretty easy to stick under a chair or table. Just make sure you have a spot to dispose of the old water!

I've just started face painting and have only done two events. At my last one a beautiful little girl asked me for Minnie mouse. I had never practised painting characters before. Unfortunately I agreed even though my gut told me not to and she walked away with a horrible black something on her face that was supposed to resemble Minnie 😩 I felt horrible about it even until now I regret it so much!

Once I was face painting in a kindergarden. And I forgot my designs at home… i was very excited, what if a kid wants something I can’t paint… So after a whike a little girl set in the chair and said: “please, paint me Jesus Christ” - of course I was surprised about that. I said to her: What if I paint on your cute face something girly. You know, Jesus have to be loved with our hearts but our face could look pretty with a mermaid on it.” She agreed. I reliefed. She told me, her grandma tought her about Jesus Christ and she loves him very much. 3 year old girl. She was so cute, I appreciated her faith. And respect for the grandma ☺ It was my strangest asking for face painting. 🌸🌸🌸

What would be an appropriate response when someone comes up with a google image that they’ve searched of something you can’t do?
@SurprisedBoardGame-ej2joАй бұрын
I would go like 'oh that's awesome! Unfortunately we can't do that today. I will practice that next time and add it to my board, go pick something from my board and we will make it extra sparkly for you
@miniperezsoto15262 жыл бұрын
I don't do special request, sometimes we don't have time (neither) to do it and/or watch the cell for the design. Actually, when the children come I say there is the list, go and pick one.....if they say ...do you do .....? Nop (no sorry) All on the list, that's it. Rarely if I have time but really long time I could do but No
