@@speedy_tm It is one of the things you can do when you are in this situation. It depends on the exact nature of the artwork whether it helps. But my video just explains why Illustrator puts up the error message in the first place.

In the Boolean logic it's correct, but maybe you should ask for a new Pathfinder function, it would make a lot of sense to have that type of pathfinder. illustrator.uservoice.com
