I think you just summed up your own personality: Putting yourself aside and prioritizing others. It's very evident in your actions and to me that's exceptional

Well, thank you for your kind comments. I think in part is the way that I was reared to always take interest in others. I remember in Cuba whenever we had visitors it was all about who they are and what's going on in their lives and only later with my parents, talk about themselves. No different than what Dale Carnegie was teaching in the 1920s.

So true. Most people like to talk about themselves. I find that a lot of the times (unlike with a real friend) the conversation is one sided and the person never asks a single question about me. I’m ok with that. I learn quick who is actually looking to build a friendship and who’s just out to have somebody listen to them, even be an ear to vent when life is hard. Then there’s some people who try this on me, don’t answer questions back but come back with weird deep questions about myself and I shut down cause I feel invaded and think they have bad intentions lol.

Yes I know what you mean. I just genuinely prefer to learn about others, to know more about them and what they have achieved. I don't even like it when I'm introduced before a speech. I have learned so much about people under their lives, they are so very interesting.

"To just suspend all interest in yourself" that is so well said. I often only feel interested when I don't feel tired, sleepy, engaged with other things in my mind, even though it's very true, if you suspend interest in yourself, you get to see others. That is so very smart, thank you Sir for the useful tip 💛

Thanks for your comments. I just find it so much more useful to learn about others than to talk about myself or what I have done. Only if they press me on that will I go in depth but then I always switch it back. And I think people genuinely like to be validated, even for the small things they have done in life.

I think just all people thinks that your life is much more interesting then theirs. I mean, usually in our lifes there is not much going on. Your life is fascinating. And yeah, people likes to be validated, specially from someone who's great...💛

Another great video Joe, I think it was your former colleague & friend Robin Dreeke who said “It’s not about me”. Also I’ve found its really interesting to find out about people’s back story and where life has taken them ! Thanks again.

Yes it was. Indeed, that was from Robbins book. But I think it was some thing that we were all taught, and that was to cultivate the help of others. You really have to make every interaction about them. And even going back to the 1920s Dale Carnegie was teaching the same thing, as was Benjamin Franklin there's nothing new here. It's just a reminder that what is important is in front of us, not that we see in the mirror.

I do, I am always fascinated by where people are from, what they like to eat, what they like to study. in 70 years I never met a person that did not appreciate my interest in them- I think because it was genuine.

And same as you i also love talking about culture or sometimes about people religions what they practice and what are some taboos in their culture and religion especially about women cuz i dont know why whatever the culture is whatever the religion is ,womens are always denied of some kind of freedoms and rights..just fascinates me why so much restriction on women only not on man..thats what i learnt talking from people
