MIDI chase is good, unless you’re using evolving sounds, cymbal/time rolls, loops that trigger with one key, sfx, etc. They’ll play as if started from the beginning, so they’ll be off if started mid-way. The work-around is to freeze those tracks.

YES you are a lifesaver! I've been using Logic for about a decade and I had no idea about MIDI Chase or Capture recording, not sure if they're relatively new or if i've missed it this whole time. I was jealous that Ableton users were getting that on their newest update, but now I have it in Logic.

In case there are any REAPER users watching this, I'm not sure about 'capture recording', but yes you can do all the others in REAPER. Watch Kenny GIoya's videos on REAPER Mania.
@steevee19454 жыл бұрын
Reaper's solution to "capture recording" is just to record your rehearsals. I always add tracks rather than do Takes on the same track. You can always delete the tracks that don't make the cut later.
@baza2104 жыл бұрын
any suggestion for how to import a track from another project without opening it? I can't find a video on that from Kenny
@anonagain4 жыл бұрын
@@baza210 Not sure what you're asking - you mean without opening the project that the track you're importing is coming from? I don't see how you can specify the track to bring over without having the project open, but you can just open the project in a new tab in Reaper then copy/paste the track into the other project. If it's something you do often like a track with an FX chain you want to use, save that track as a template, then you can bring the template into your project without opening the original project. Hope that helps!

@4kfreelance6 жыл бұрын
I have to admit I didn't know a about the midi chase function in Logix Pro X until I saw this video. I kept getting confused about the way Logic has a spaghetti junction of steps in getting to the window to select the functions required. Then all of a sudden I realised it's a lot easier going straight to projects settings and midi chase in less steps than preferences. The way Logic and other programs have 3 different ways of doing each function, and from training I've received, it makes it a lot more stressful when developers send us round the houses when completing tasks and confuses us sometimes. Midi chase was of them tricky ones to navigate to when going through the advanced preferences settings.

Awesome video! I was wondering if any of you knows how to use the second tip on Cubase? I use Cubase 8.5! Thank you for the hard work, and take care!
@andyallen79847 жыл бұрын
I think that Cubase sets Chase to 'on' by default - you can choose individual event types to chase, or not, in PREFERENCE/MIDI/CHASE EVENTS. It's a mixed blessing - sounds that evolve significantly over time, or loops/phrases that need to sync with a particular point in the track will not play in the right place with chase. I typically render these parts (and freeze the original track so that I can edit later if necessary) to get around this.
