Also a good thing to note is to have the latest firmware/software installed on the device. I believe 1.13 or so actually added support for video playback from USB. I was going crazy trying to get mine to work only to find that it was still on 1.04.08. Also really great video!

I have a switch under the dash that is wired up to the parking brake sense wire and ground. I can just flick that switch and play anything on the unit without worrying about parking brake not engaged warning. I had my previous unit hooked up same way. It was a dvd player and i had rear seat monitors. They won't play video unless the parking brake was on. So i did this.

Quick Tip... If your xav ax6000 was installed properly and you have this issue.... Video picture shuts off but you can still hear the sound of the video through the speakers. Disable the Bluetooth from the vehicle and turn off the apple play / Google play feature This should only leave your phone and the xav ax6000 to connect together and you should be able to cast as directed.... The issue I found was there were too many connections the radio was trying to find and the unit was getting confused as to what to connected to. This worked for me and it's been working fine ever since. 12/02/23.

I just installed a XAV-AX3250 and it took a bit to get the 250 Gb USB drive formatted properly. It has to be Master Boot Record and exFat to work for me. Reads up quickly with one song on it, but once I put 57Gb on the drive, it takes 2 to 3 minutes each time I start the car to read the drive. That's around 10,000 files in folders separated by band and albums. Not sure what's going on there.

@carsterochick Is there a music folder shortcut to swap between folders? It's frustrating that you have to go back to root menu everytime to select folder and not like older models were you can just skip folders using the folder fwd button. Thank you

Hello, I have a Sony xav ax6000, I notice I try to change to a custom wallpaper from off my phone, but it says no usb device found when I click the button for inputting a phone from your phone. However my phone is charging, when it’s plugged in, so how is no usb device found. Anyways another issue is the hdmi port, I’ve purchase all the adapters from your other video, but it says no hdmi device found. It really sucks, cus I bought this unit specifically for the hdmi. I do know, it is not updated to the latest update, but trying with my phone it wouldn’t work. Any help with the inputting photos for background? And the hdmi issue ? Thanks !!

Can't pull the image directly from your phone, you have to put it on a flash memory USB device. Also, you should try the software update 1st, we've done a few of these using those HDMI adapters and never had any issue, but we also always update software before the car leaves the shop. The other thing to consider is you have to have the parking brake wire actually wired up and engaged in order to view any video either from the USB like shown in this video or from the HDMI adapters. hello, today i updated my xav ax6000 and i can upload pics from a usb. after the update i was hoping the hdmi would work but sadly didnt. i unplugged the iphone hdmi to lightning adapter and instead tried my laptops hdmi port, something finally changed but instead of no hdmi found no it says no video signal detected. so its seeing my laptop is connected but wont play videos it jus says no video signal detected even when playing a youtube video. any help??? please ive had this unit for about a year and have never ever once used the hdmi@@carstereochick

It depends on what devices you're using. For most clients, we are flush mounting the USB C input somewhere convenient below the radio or in the center console and then you can either connect a USB C compatible device or USB C drive (link in video description) or you can use a USB to USB C adapter to connect/charge an Apple device or to connect a standard USB drive (link to Anker USB C adapter in video description).

No, you would need step up to the 6000 and use the HDMI input along with the appropriate HDMI adapter for your phone.

For Apple CarPlay these models are wireless connection only. If you’re using the HDMI on the XAV-AX6000 you need an Apple lighting digital AV adapter plus a HDMI D to standard HDMI.

Hi, unfortunately I cannot assist with that, I'm so sorry. Under language options in the settings, this model appears to support German, English, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese and Korean.

Hi Jason, usually when I see quirks like that it's something simple. If this happens when you have a wired connection, that could be related to the USB charge/sync cable. Might sound weird, but I've even seen that issue with my iPhone and I believe it has to do with the data transfer speed of the cable. Are you connected directly to the USB C or are you using the wireless connection? If this is happening wirelessly, I would suggest uninstalling the 3 apps and reinstalling to clear the cache. I've had to do that for clients with a few different apps like Spotify, Pandora, Podcast Addict, etc. with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wired or wirelessly. Lastly - did you install the most recent update on the radio? If not, do that. After uninstalling/reinstalling the apps and/or updating the software on the radio you should also delete the connection from the radio, forget the connection from your phone and reconnect. Sometimes it's just a matter of clearing cache from one or both devices. I hope that helps! I would test it, but I don't have an Android phone to test it with and it sounds like you'd really need to test this while driving to recreate the issue. I can say I have sold quite a few of these and I haven't come across that complaint yet so I think it could be resolved with one or a combination of the suggestions I provided. Let me know if any of those recommendations work.

@@carstereochick I was only testing wireless because I don’t have a certified cable, then I tried already clearing data and factory reset the head unit and same issue, radio is up to date I’ll try doing it one more time and see what happen

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. No, the XAV-AX9500ES does not have an HDMI input. You would need a radio with an HDMI input (or micro HDMI) and an HDMI cable plus a phone adapter like what I show in this video in order to stream content from your phone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnmQfqCuqJyNp6s I don't know why they didn't include an HDMI input on that model. It looks like there is a file limit of 25,000 but they don't specifically state what devices it will read. That's one of those situations where if you were local, I'd say bring it to the shop and we'll hook it up on display and see. Years ago I recall another client with a 1tb drive and we tested it on everything we had and the only thing that read it was Kenwood. But even then, the head unit took forever to index it all and it had to index it each time you started the car. I don't know if that would be the case with Sony, but that's why you want to go to a local shop and test it. We're located in Brookfield, CT - Sounds Incredible Mobile. We'd be happy to do the same if you want to stop in.
