I hope it's going well for you. I am at just past 48 hours since my last taper dose. I find that gabapentin is a wonder drug for withdrawals, and amitriptyline is great for helping with sleep. I have done this 5 times now over the past 7 years or so. I will be 40 in a couple months and enough is enough.
@theboo42769 жыл бұрын
nosoupfuru van gabapentin cause restlessness? Cuz my doc gave me a script for it and it seems to me that every time I take it I get so restless. I'm also withdrawing from tramadol but I'm scared to take gabapentin again cuz I don't want to make the restlessness any worse than it is. I do take benadryl but that doesn't help at all.
@jhimelick9 жыл бұрын
Kim Wheeler it never made me restless, but I have heard that it can affect certain people differently. It always made me a little whoosy the first few times, but that wears off. I finally managed to quit taking the gabapentin and the amitriptyline, but I did have to resort to tylenol pm's the first few days just so I could fall asleep. The restlessness is terrible, and I feel for you. If you are afraid it will make it worse then I wouldn't recommend taking it. I've came off high doses of tramadols before, and they can be just as bad of withdrawals as other opiates. Good luck, it does get better!

@@tonyprice9804 thank's for your quick reply tony ! l also have been burdened with this opiate/opioid subject. My question to you ; was your using opiate/opioid an. RX or of another type ? Did you have a medical reason for using these drugs ? After 15 years of use due to numerous health conditions, I was prescribed to four norco a day. Occasionally l would request more (5 a day) due to an operation or other type of procedure l had gone through. But my dose has been steadily four a day. Lately l've noticed , especially in these past six months that l run out before the end of the month. The reason being is that my pain from my illnesses have increased throughout the years. This month it happened again , I ran out of the RX 10 days before my refill date . I know l'm screwed now ! I don't want to ask for more at the doctors because l hate the embarrassment of looking like an addict ( which realy burns me up). So l have decided to go cold Turkey and simply just stop taking them. I really have no choice because l have none to begin with , not for another ten day's or so. My body feels like crap because l have not had my RX for five or six day's now. My question ' (finaly) is how do l determine if the pain and discomforts that are present is caused by withdrawal or the illnesses for which the RX is prescribed for ? Broken back in Marines, bike accidents, auto wrecks, and natural causes of bone & vertebrate deterioration , spinal stenosis etc..etc.. I'd like to not have to be so physically dependent on these dam pills but it is the only thing that brings me to a semi comfortable state. I can accomplish more things because l'm not thinking about how bad l feel when l don't have them . Anyway's thankyou for your time and input into this tony . . .

Jon Allen honestly after the first week or two, I found that regular green tea helps quite a bit with my anxiety; it doesn't go away, but it makes your body and mind feel more up to speed with your anxiety. It certainly makes the chills/sweating more prominent but believe it or not, it's much less bothersome than laying in bed with anxiety.

Thank you so much for posting this video. I am down to my last two Percocet and I'm going to take today to prep for my withdrawal using your very helpful tips. I had to leave my job for 15 years due to my addiction as well as some physical problems, and my anxiety and emotional issues. I want to do this for my family, friends, myself, and for God. I was very naïve when I started taking painkillers I had never had taken any drugs before and I did not realize how addictive they were. I found that they not only took away my pain but they helped my emotional issues which was the worst thing I could've done. So again thank you for posting, and for everyone else out there going through this I wish you luck and pray for your successful recovery. Thank you and wish me luck - Mimi

I did this and honestly it wasn't that bad. I was using opioids or subs literally every day for 20 years then after feeling trashy I decided to quit and honestly if you just reserve one week to yourself you can do this. The worst of it is just anxiety and not being able to sleep but it only last a couple days. For me I slept like a baby the first 2 days then the other 2 I had zero sleep but on the 5th day I was getting energy back and feeling normal again. But what I really fuckin recommend and it saved me so fuckin much was otter pops. Like he said in the video you will lose any hunger cravings whatsoever but with pop cycles they're not filling, and they help cool you down when you get hot on withdrawals. I tried ice cream and stuff like that, but it didn't really help. Good luck everyone. I know you get stuck in the cycle of thinking without a drug or substance you're not going to be able to function right or that it's something you need but it's in your head. Take a harsh look at yourself and look at someone sober how they actually look like their full of life. You're just slowly killing yourself and people around you can see it.

Some additional tips: 1) Sugar. I'm talking candy. I personally like Now and Laters but you can do whatever you like. This helps release a little dopamine which will make you feel a little better. 2) Music. Put on some of your favorite songs, especially something upbeat and energetic. Emotionally, you are going to be feeling all sorts of things that the opiates have been blocking and music will really hit you in a good way. Some emotional, slower songs can be cathartic too. I've found some music can really help distract your mind and make you feel a little better. 3) Hot coffee. This may be a personal thing for me but I've found that caffeine makes my head feel a little better and the warmth from the coffee soothes me. Sometimes it can make you feel worse so it really depends. Try this tip at your own risk.

Many of the symptoms such as, smelling weird smells, not sleeping well, paranoia and fear, etc...can ve very mentally scary. It is good to talk to someone who had done through this before so that you know that you are not losing your mind or dying (this is what the mind thinks), you are just going through withdrawal and will feel much better and freer soon. Thank you so very, very much. This video is very helpful. I'm facing the challenge of no Opioid usage in a few days. I've weaned myself from 4x a day to 2x a day,10mg, by the Grace of God. I were offered the prescription of a drug you place under the tongue to finish weaning from Oxycodone, but after reading about it and finding out it is an Opioid it didn't make sense to start another. So I am choosing to go through the withdrawal I'm facing. I Pray to Almighty God that in Faith through Christ I'll have the Victory and God my Father all the Glory, in the name of JESUS. I Thank you very much for your help. Bless You. Much Love

TIP: Grounding. If you can manage, get to a park or shore, remove your socks & shoes & walk on the bare earth. I have Chronic pain from the waist down, & 100mg of gabapenton away from being painkiller free (already done & still withdrawing from dihydrocodiene.) I managed to try this 1 morning it was warm enough with incredible results - I was so buzzed I ran some of the way home for the 1st time in too long! I felt no pain while my bare feet were connected to the ground. It was beautiful. All the best to you all, it's no mean feat✌🏻🙏🏻

Now that IS TRUE.. especially if u can get some thick sand like volleyball court or beach. If it's warm out the sand feels cool and if it's cool out it will feel warm, there is something about regulating your temperature that bit that helps along with those electrical currents.

im just coming off of suboxone because of opiate addiction but been on suboxone the last 3 years, was taperring off, then the clinic basically shut down, gave everyone a months worth and wished us luck, I had no luck finding another dr to prescribe suboxone so made what I had left last two months. It's sunday today so took my last dose on thursday night so this is day 3 without it, I was on a low dose was cutting my strips in 16 small pieces and took only when I felt I needed it, which definitely wasn't the way to do it but I did what I could. It's been very hard still, no vomiting or diarrhea but the irritability and restless leg syndrome is a killer too. im finding blasting my music and just dancing or excercising in place has helped, and took a benydrl to help sleep, something thats non habit forming just to be able to sleep a little. It's hard to explain these feelings to someone who has never been addicted to anything of how I feel. I feel like screaming cause I just can't take it. I know I can get through this, I definitely don't recommend going through this alone, when alone or sitting quietly thoughts just run through my head, the first night of withdrawls I literally went through my medicine cabinet looking for anything to just take this horrible feeling but luckily I had already gotten rid of everything, so had to suck it up and get through the first night. Walking helps even if its just in your house but better to try to get out and keep busy if possible. And it feels like my back is breaking, guess the suboxone helped with pain, so I know im feeling aches and pains everywhere, could be more psychological but not sure. At times I feel no energy but cant stand to sit still, the no sitting still wins everytime, I have to keep moving. I wish though I could just sleep till this all passes. Good luck to everyone going through this.

Eating is so hard to do- I grow to resent my body for causing me pain because it wants food and yet not wanting to eat. I'm starting day four cold turkey off subs for two years, and it's a nightmare. I've not made it past day five from sub or previously opiates since I started five-six years ago. I don't even remember what feeling normal without meds is like. Feeling capable of functioning in the world without a fix first is something I've forgotten completely.

I've gone thru withdrawals at San Antonio's Bexar County jail more times than I can count. It's by far the worst of indignities, pain, torture and mental anguish you can possibly go thru. Having to detox in a cell with another man is something I wouldn't wish on Satan himself. That's why now when I'm in withdrawal, I can say, at least I'm not in jail.

Its like your body is on fire. I've been searching for so many videos on how to be happy, reduce anxiety, whatever, nothing i've read or watched was helpful. No one that has expderienced addiction has any idea what it's like or how to really deal with it. I've been watching your videos now and it's an extrodinary relief that someone can cofirm and relate first had with solid info. Thank you again. So hard, I keep relapsing on hydros and tramadol. I've been clean from tramadol for about a day and a half. It's been a hellish year. On pain pills all this year for a compressing disc and pintched nerve. Hope to get off this junk for real. No one in my family really has an idea of what I'm going through, which makes it tough because there's nothing anyone can do. It's all on myself to get thtough it. Well enough rambling. Clonidine for your blood pressure, trazadone to get a little sleep. Also something for your nausea, forget what it’s called but Imodium works for loose bowels. All of these are pretty easy to get from any doctor. Besides that, if possible, lots and lots of pot. Smoke and edibles, I would suggest. Different types of indica, not as much sativa side. Besides all of that, as many hot showers as you can take. Make sure the shower is clean so that you can just sit in there and let the hot water fall over you, forget what its called but it will be the only place you’ll feel normal. Hydro something or another. One particularly rough withdrawal I took probably six or seven really long showers a day. Don’t be embarrassed, you need to get through this. There is a comment somewhere here talking about embracing the pain as it’s your body coming back to life. In order for me to do this I have to be listening to very loud, very particular music. The music type will be different for everyone but my belief is that drums, and methodical deep bass, the correct voice hitting the right notes, helps push your brain into a sort of... i almost want to say orgasm but it isn’t. Eargasm? I relapsed a couple years ago and because I wanted to keep my job, I switched to methadone. I’m on a sort of rapid detox from it, dropping about twenty percent every week. In my opinion methadone was not worth what it saved me. The withdrawals you go through just from decreasing can be categorized as going through aws, with a few hours of comfort sprinkled in after your dose every morning. I would encourage finding a few days to just take off of work, and kick the heroin. Methadone as absolute last resort. All of that being said, it is going to help if you can get spiritual. Not necessarily religious, just look inside and find the strength that is there. Keep a sharp focus when possible on why you’re doing this, and how it’s going to feel when you can laugh with life and sleep peacefully. You can do this.

Keep in mind that a lot of it is in your mind. Yes, a lot of it. The worse you feel, the more your mental state deteriorates to despair. Continually tell yourself ALL DAY that you are working toward something so much better. Tell yourself that RIGHT NOW, you feel great! You have pain, you have aches, but you FEEL GREAT. Positivity is the one thing that will get you through any addiction even smoking. Your life is going to be GOOD. You will have FREEDOM. Make a gratitude list of everything you look forward to. Keeping your mind busy is so very helpful to keep you from overthinking. Aspirin helps with pain better than Ibuprofen or tylenol for those with arthritis if you can take it. You can ask your doctor for anti anxiety meds to get through it. Anti anxiety meds are a lot easier to stop taking in the long run. GOOD LUCK and KEEP going.

I prepped like this , half a Gallon of vodka , 30 Styx of Xanax 100 Immodiums , after day 2 the withdrawals were bad , I did a shot of vodka every 15 minutes for bout 2 hours and ate 2 mg Xanax ..slept for 2 hours woke up drank lots of water ate watermelons and fruits drank more water and vodka 2 more shots ..did that till day 4 , flushed the vodka on day 5 , the Xanax had no effect I was not sleeping at all and had severe hangovers ..so I dealt with it ..ate light food and more fruits and lots of water ..the Xanax makes you whanna eat and drink water ..day 6 Immodiums lots of the,m 60mg every 6 hours ..day 7 I was out ..fealt better ..threw out the Xanax and ate and ate ate ..day 8 I was out and about ..still sluggish and had Xanax withdrawals ..for about a day ..day 9 I was laughing and over it . Day 10 I was in a gym working out . Been clean now 4 years . Those are the physical withdrawals .. After about 3 months the dreams stop ..cause the addiction is so imbedded in your brain that you dream about it for like a month ..then after 3 months your out totally . Takes about a year before your totally kicking ass ..the damage is so bad it took me a year before I was proud of myself in mirror ..I was 137 pounds when I kicked after a year I was up to 190 pounds solid muscle ..I cycled on juice cyopnate and Dianabole and my body sucked it up man ..it needed I did that for 10 weeks cycled off then on later that year ...the steroids helped bring me back from the dead Weak man to a much healthier ripped lean muscle guy . I stopped using it and I'm still 190 and ripped . I'm totally drug free and making a shit load of money , I work out and do martial arts now , I totally replaced the drug with fitness and new gym friends instead of corner friends . I drive a 60k BMW and have a great job . I truly made it . I had it I front of me many times and I walked away . I watch these old withdrawals videos from time to time to always remind me of where I came out of . Watching the agony of the withdraws is a healthy dose of the reality of this monster . Good luck hope that helps

i see this video was uploaded in Dec. 2014. BUT for those of you, (like me) who are just getting on the ball now (May, 2016), lets do this ! Summer is right around the corner. Don't we want to be free from this stupid mess we put ourselves in ! And actually have MONEY to spend on ENJOYABLE things this summer haha you know it's the truth... don't kid yourself. It's a 50/50 battle mindset/physical. Don't let anyone tell you, "oh it's all in your head" ... well yes... half of it is. You need to WANT to quit. But let's be serious, the other half (physical), F***in sucks. BE ACTIVE. This guy isn't joking around. You may not want to get up out of the recliner, but just FORCE yourself. Just like he said, even a simple walk around the block for 5 - 10 mins will do you WONDERS. And last but not least... eating healthy. Something most of us aren't to fond of. Say goodbye to cookies, donuts, all that SUGAR ... say goodbye. Don't get me wrong.... treat yourself to a delicious candy bar.... ONCE in a wile. TOO MUCH SUGAR IS YOUR WORST ENEMY. Your blood sugar level will spike, you'll feel like you have some energy (something you've been DIEING to get back) , but then comes the crash. And what will happen is, you'll be looking for that "pick me up" and well... do i need to say more? You can do this, WE can do this. Have faith in yourself... 2 weeks to a month (depending on what/how much) you were taking.... is worth the pain and suffering.... There IS a light at the end of the tunnel. Each day that light will grow bigger and brighter. You are strong, WE are strong.... and have SUPPORT. If you're trying to do this on your own... you can't lol trust me, i tried that... and mentally you just wanna scream to the world "PLEASE SOME ONE I FEEL LIKE I'M DIEING HERE" . People who TRUELY care about you will understand, and try to help, and not judge you on your mistakes... the past is the past... There's a WAY bigger and brighter future a head of you, of US! Hopefully this message to those of you who stuck around to read it all, was a good self-e-steam booster!! WE CAN DO THIS !

Exercise!! The one thing I agree on in this video is exercise.. When i was comming off I had to sit at a desk for 10 hours a day, shaking like a leaf in discomfort, as soon as work let out I raced to the gym! Yes it hurt like hell the first 15 min into it but i kept going, cause the way I saw it, I deserved to be punished in pain for being such an idiot for starting something everyone tells you not to do in the first place. But as I continued my workout i felt no pain it all went away i felt great!! And to top it off aftetwards i slept like a bear.. Although when i woke up i felt shitty again but it was less shitty then the day before so i kept going untill i woke up one day and it was gone ..So try it out, you dont have to lift weights but any kind of exercise that gets your heart rate up will work. And remember you have the control of that voice in yourd head. Good luck

I just want to say one thing. If you are not up and running after 96 hours maximum you are milking it! I'm not saying to run marathons but you should be up and walking even if you still have the flu symptoms or depression. Let me tell you out of experience, if you don't get up you are not doing yourself any good. It's so true about getting proper nutrition and stay hydrated. By drinking a lot it gets you up out of bed to urinate which you need. Eating is the best thing also. Start with saltine crackers and work your way up to heavier meals. If all you can do is sip on something, then grab some quality flavored protein mix, combine with some green vegetables and put them into a blender. Slowly drink yourself back to normal. Even if a few ounces per hour, just do it! You can and you will get through this. Just claim your life back now!

And I got some meds from my doc to help me ease this up on me, and if it doesn't work he's putting me in the hospital. Wish me luck! I'm only 22 and I've been doing this since I was 15! Gotta get myself straight!

Boy you hit the nail on the head about driving!! On day 2 of detoxing I got on the freeway. Looked at my cell and when I looked up I came within inches of rear ending a man! Luckily nobody was in the next lane as I swerved around him! I was so “out of it” my friend. I had No Business driving. Went home immediately.

@@damian0766 Cos it’s a milder form of subutex/soboxone. It’s substitute for heroin but a lot easier to cut down & come off.

any men who have depression get your testosterone levels checked because opiates stop the pituitary gland from producing testosterone, so taking supplemental testosterone can help with depression and energy levels. Also keep some deodorant on you cause the BO stinks from withdrawls.
@smithenstein797 жыл бұрын
ween yourself down weeekly. Then when you are at the lowest dose that you can handle go cold turkey. Sleep it off in bed for a couple of days. Weed helps. Go to the naturopath and get some adaptogens. eg the best ginseng, reishi mushroom etc and power up. get outside and get sun then exercise.
@danr51056 жыл бұрын
I am told that the low testosterone problem starts when your dosage is at or exceeds 200mg morphine equivalent, under 200 mgs and there most likely are other testosterone issues.
@TD-rp6ii5 жыл бұрын
I did this and now have millions of problems I didn’t have before because of the testosterone. The test causes enlarged prostate. Which doctors thought was an infection so I was given Cipro. Now I can barely walk due to the Cipro side effects. And it turns out I never even had an infection. I’m off test and off methadone and taking 1mg of subs a day. Struggling to get through every day. By bowels have been horrible I am not absorbing any nutrients from food or otherwise. My eyes are sunken in. Don’t go on test. You can raise your test naturally but working out getting enough sleep and eating right. Let this be a warning.

Any exercise you can get. Go for a walk (run), stretch, push ups or the most you can do. Just be careful. Exercise helped me and still does to keep cravings away after a year. It will speed up the process, release natural endorphins which is what you are missing and make you feel so much better. It's just really hard to get started. Good luck

Yo, sending love to all those reading this and starting the process. It's hell I done it so many times cold turkey. I keep slipping back into tramadols and tapentadols though whilst not the worst they are equally rough to ride out. I tapered down my last strip of blisters and then switched to my cannabis vape carts. Night times are the worst, crazy dreams and it feels like my eyes are open when I'm sleeping. Daytime fatigues and sweats and I'm slowly eating. Leaving the house is hard work, I have to help my family with stuff but a light head spins me out here and there. Nearly there. We got this. ❤

Hello, I have gone through heroin withdrawals many times like 6 to 8 times now, and about to do it again!, love the vids also but I gotta recommend some stuff that helped me before, loperimaid taking doses of that helps with all withdrawal symtoms, and also ibeproufen can help just with aches, but things will still hurt sadly, but I also notice that watching on youtube other people in withdrawal can help make you feel like your not alone and just watching them can help with your mindset, you wont feel alone at all and wont feel like your the only one going through it ! thanks ryan take care bro

you are right, loperamide [(imodium) OTC anti-diarrhea] is actually a low level opiate itself that doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier believe it or not so yes it does help, you also can't technically overdose on it, I've taken 8 at one shot and the restless legs went away and I slept like a baby and it really really toned down my other w/d symptoms too
@tyler89017 жыл бұрын
how much are you able to take for it to help with symptoms

Tyler Layton They won't completely go away..mostly helps with stomach aches

The only symptom ive found loperimide helps with is the shit storms. Tones them down from hurricane levels to just a light gust.

Ryan.... Could you please make a video on your PAWS......I know you have gone over it before... But I and many people are still having problems with the PAWS part of recovery.... Please explain in detail what exact symptoms you had while going through PAWS..... ie. Headaches.... brain fog.... anxiety... depression.... Heart palpitations (if you had any)... Imbalance while walking.... sleep problems.... etc. I know you've touched on this before.... But many of us want you to go step by step.... How your 5 months after you got clean went.... what your body and mind went through during this period.....Thanks my brother...... :)

After the initial sickness it is so very,very helpful to have friends around to talk to if you can ! This is for at least 2 major reasons. # ! It helps greatly, as was already cited, to occupy your mind. #2 is super important; there is a great natural pain-killing affect in conversing with another human being, do it as long as you can, each hour that goes by brings you closer to freedom !!!

1. A heated throw blanket. Helps a shit load when you're freezing and need that instant warmth, also easy to chuck off when the inevitable sweats hit. 2. A bath. I found the weight/pressure of the water/heat helped the restless limbs. These 2 things brought slight relief. I stayed in the bath for hours on end, it felt much better than to have that sweaty drenched clothes feeling every 5 mins
