Really good looking figs and training. It's my first year growing figs so I will focus on the shape this year. Good advice. Glad you're posting videos again. Beautiful backyard and love the idea of the raised platforms for the containers. Thanks for sharing.

Homer your work on training your trees is amazing. Your yard is beautiful. Tomato plant is alright. The zucchini plant not so good, sorry. Since you’re limited space, next year try the stake method on the zucchini. When you start the zucchini plant, put three stakes around the plant. As it starts to grow, the stakes will help get the plant to grow straight up. You pick a 6’ stake and start tie to the stake and continue to tie. Once you have the zucchini attached, you can remove 2 of the stakes. Leaving 1. Make sure that stake is tall enough because the zucchini will grow tall this way. It really helps with disease and bug prevention. Get some rest buddy, you sound very tired 😊

One more thing. With only a few corn plants, they will need help with pollination. If you don’t give them help, it will lead to deformities. If the tassels are close enough, rub them together a couple times. 😊

It just looks so clean! I’m a big fan of the raised boards that the pots sit on. I bet that’s easy to run by with the string trimmer. I have a long row of plastic weed barrier running down my fence with pots sitting on top. I notice you have several Smiths. This is my first year getting Smith fruits. I’m considering a reduction in the number of varieties I grow. Simplify. Curious if Smith is one that would be worth going “all in” for potted figs? Of course I have Etna’s and other stuff in ground too.

U nailed it on my raised platforms.. trimming around makes it easier for my guys. Smith is a top fig for my zone. It’s highly productive, split resistant, tastes good and it’s almost August and starting to swell. With my zone, I’m limited to what I can grow successfully. I want to have a final collection of about 36 figs. And I don’t need 36 different varieties. I just want all 36 to be productive and tasty. That’s why I have multiple smiths.

Ur tomatoes are great and zucchini also for pot grown. If you want to do a garden veggies and stuff just buy 4×8 raised beds 10 inch tall and plant main crop stuff there

Never seen fig trees trained like that! Don’t see why you couldn’t train your tomatoes in some unnaturally unique way.
@basementfigs
@basementfigs 20 күн бұрын
Thanks for the support and watching! You can train anything… just don’t have the passion for tomatoes like i do for figs. Training takes a lot of time on something that grows as fast as tomatoes or even figs. The cannabis community trains their stuff. That’s prolly the closest thing to growing a tomato.
