Hello Lou, I harvested my first ripe Dessert King breba today from my greenhouse , the earliest fig I have grown so far. Thanks for the video. John in Victoria, BC

Hi Lou, in Italy they sell it as Filacciano, it is the same and its an amazing variety, breba quality beats many others main crop. One needs to pick them well ripe though, just as you do.

I was ok sharing some Celeste and LSU Tiger but when they found my Smith and CLBC I declared war. So far I’ve caught a raccoon, a possum and my cat. My wife wouldn’t let me relocate the cat and when I opened the cage this morning to let the possum go it looked at me like “ I don’t want to get out, I don’t see any fig trees around here “. I’m loving my second year as a “figster” eating fresh ripe figs every day for over a month now with plenty more to come. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

I ate my last Dessert King breba today, I was getting about 4-6 ripe juicy delicious figs everyday since the 28th of June. It was my best DK harvest yet. Such a worthy fig to grow. With the mild winter I didn’t have any die back on the DK. I have given rooted cuttings to many friends and family and always tell them plant this one in the ground here in 7a. A great recommendation! Thank you for posting these videos!

What a lovely tree. If you have plans to sell some Feliciano Blanco cuttings, please put me on the list. Squirrels are stealing my tomatoes, still green. But they didn't learn about figs yet

Lou I wish you and Debbie would consider coming and hanging out with the other fig-crazed figsters at the Fig Frolic in Sept. That would be a blast!

Hi Lou! What a beautiful Feliciano Bianco tree!! Tell me if you can, how different does this fig tastes than the Peter's Honey? What a blessing to have so many wonderfully prolific fruit trees! Take care!!

Thank you very much! Yes, sometimes it's a difficult choice, but I really try to avoid using any kind of environmental poisons as much as I can. Ordinarily, it's not a huge problem because I've learned to work with the natural balancing abilities of nature to resolve most of the common problems that often occur as a gardener. I've learned a number of environmentally safe ways to deal with ants, but sometimes I just don't find the time to implement them effectively. Thanks for watching! Lou Monti

Lou, you always say it's a good fig for me to grow but where can I get the plant? Would you help me get a plant?

Hi Lou, I'm a new fig grower, I always watch your videos and try to follow your advises. I have an issue with my Dalmatie potted fig tree. It is only 2 years old but I had a decent breba fig this year, then all of my main crop figs are not ripening well. I mean, they looked wonderful then they start to swell and become very soft and spongy mainly on the eye-end but then they drop and they are still white inside with some brownish color near the eye.. what do you think the problem could be? Any idea? Thanks!

@italianbusker3329 Hi there! I don't know. It could be a variety of things, and I'd have to know a great many more things in order to give you a reliable diagnosis. I would certainly investigate and confirm the proper identification of your tree and look closely into the issue of Caprification! Good luck and thanks for watching. Lou Monti

Christoph Seiler, a German fig grower, descibes that after long winters Dalmatie sometimes produces some or a complete generation of non-parthenocarpic brebas. The picture of such a fig interior shown in his book reminds me on your description. Just give the fig tree some time or simply focus on the excellent main crop.

What is your hardiness zone or area where you live? I live in Philly sea and have Peter’s Honey in the pot.
