hey knox. just want to say thanks for inspiring me to pickup banjo again after a long time of it gathering dust! on the last slide are you going 2->4->2, open 3rd string, 2nd fret 4th string? I can't make it out from viddy and when i play that it sounds right but im messing up my bum ditty in the process

So, the way I play it now is 3 consecutive slides up on the 3rd string from 2-4 for the "you go dressed so fine". So a slide for YOU, GO, and DRES. on the -ED I'll slide back down to 2 and go open for the SO and hit 2 on the 4th for the FINE. hope this helps, lmk if you want clarification

can i ask, what’s the picking pattern on this? i’m jjsy confused on the order of the strings i’m supposed to play

I'm playing clawhammer style here- if you aren't familiar with it I would suggest checking out Clifton Hicks' guide on it. Generally, however, the picking style isn't important, you could simply pluck a string and then strum afterward, which Is a simple way I like to play. Perhaps I could make a video about that way if you would find it helpful?

@@knoxmassey6822 yeah for sure. i’d love to play like you someday, so any lessons or guides you put out, i’ll be sure to watch them. i’m new to the banjo (which i cah thank you for) and just learned today the difference between normal and minstrel banjo. i thought minstrel was just a genre. come to find out it’s a whole different thing. but yeah if you’d br willing to and it isn’t any trouble, i’d love to see it

No, it's not. Not standard G, but its standard tuning.
