When you install your washer and dryer, put small furniture sliders under the feet of the washer. One can easily slide the stack without damaging the floor. Works with refrigerator and freezer feet as well.

I appreciate the vide very much, but I really needed to see how to get dryer separated from the stacking kit... I don't remember what I did to install it and need a refresher on exactly how to undo the stacking kit...

We had a nightmare experience with having to take down our dryer for a new washer to be installed, home Depot refused to do it, then we put it back up .....and that was incredibly hard... (we damaged a couple of things and my back amongst them). But it doesn't end her ...... the brand new washer started acting funny just a day in so we had to take down AGAIN the dryer to put in the replacement washer.....and now I am just terrified of how are we going to lift it back up. I am not much help to my husband, I am afraid, and the closet where they are is very tight and located at the end of a hall so hard to move.This video is very very helpful. God bless you!

Thanks so much Elvy, I need to move Dryer‘s off of Washer‘s all the time by myself and the only way I can do it is to use the garbage can or the recycling bin to put the dryer on. Just take your time and make sure the dryer is balanced on top of the bin and then you can easily wheeled it away.

They REALLY need to do something with making it much easier to get to things or be able to move the dryer with a slide out or something? They charge so much money for these newer space efficient designs . . . Engineer them to be easier when there are problems! They will eventually wear out and have problems through useage.

We are replacing a stacked set in our second floor laundry closet. The issues are that the washer is in a drip pan that drains to the basement shower (i.e., drip pan can't be moved), and the area is so tight that only 1 person can fit in the laundry closet to lift off the dryer. If we used the recycling bin idea, then zero people could fit in there. It also involves an immediate 90° turn to get out the doorway. No idea what to do.

Our full size stacked washer and dryer are in a tight spot but also on a 3-4 inch lip. How can we lower and raise the set with just two people and no room? I need to replace the felt gasket in the dryer.

How do you remove the little clamps that connect the washer to the dryer if there's no space to squeeze around behind the appliances to unclamp them? That's our issue ... we can't pull the dryer out on top of the garbage container because it's clamped to the washer, & we can't reach the clamps. Thank you!

I spray windex below the washer’s feet and wiggle the whole washer and dryer out together. The windex helps to slide it out. I open the washer door and grab the inside edges of the door opening to pull it out.

So how do you life the dryer on and off the bin by yourself? Looks rather unstable and you are taking a MAJOR chance of doing damage to the machine if it falls off. Also where have you connected the drain off of that drain pan ? Its extending off out the bottom a few inches and should be run to a drain!

I have a full size Samsung washer and dryer stacked on the second floor bedroom hallway closet. The problem is the closet has a tile floor with a marble threshold and the hallway is carpet. So I can’t slide it out because of the threshold. Bad design. The dryer won’t go on and it seems to be a broken belt. I have to get a thick piece of sheetmetal and try to get it under the washer and over the threshold and try sliding the two units out. I don’t know any other solutions.

Hey Frank, I would remove the bracket that holds the dryer’s front feet and slide it out onto the recycling bin and then remove the top panel and then front panel to do the belt switch. Please let me know how it goes.

Should not use that type of dryer vent tube. Use rigid. Fire safety.

Once I get the dryer slid onto the recycling bin I pull the dryer out to give me a little room to reach behind the washer and turn off the gas at the gas valve.

I've tried putting heavy things on my recycling/trash bins before. The bins always collapse in on themselves. I will not be putting a heavy appliance onto a plastic bin that is likely to collapse. Will keep searching for a one-person solution...
