Nice video ! I have a question : what kinds of datas do we obtain in the SD Card ? Because I would like to modelise in 3 dimensions the ground of my lake, so I would like to have access to X,Y,Z particulars to make that. Can I ? (sorry for my English i'm French lol)

For very particular data collection my understanding is that if you understand the data strings you can take those coordinates from the Nmea2000 output. The unit can make a topographic map as shown in the video. It can make a map that would be useable but the software makes assumptions and averages areas between data collections. The raw data streamed out in nmea would be very accurate but the map made by software is cleaner looking and more what people expect to see.

Follow-up question, is this a lake that does not show on your fishing chart? For example a small pond or private water?

from a distance of 3m, you don't know which map you were making, which is by default from garmin.. Is there a solution to leave quickdrawcontures in colors and turn off the other map colors

Yes it does make contour lines. The lake that I was mapping on was mapped already and built into the unit. It had come down some in the time between when it was mapped originally and the filming of this video so the new mapping differed from what had been done before. The process works on unmapped lakes as well and that is where it would be used primarily.

I noticed that you do not grid the area. Does that give a better contour ?

90 degree grids can give a more uniform contour accuracy but it is not the only way to map. More data is usually better, so tighter grids and multiple passes can give better results. Thanks for watching.

No, the Striker unit does not have built in mapping nor does it have a card slot to accept mapping

Some of the lakes I go to have the wrong contours so my question is if I map out that Lake how can I get it to show just my contours and not the Garmin contours

Your mapping should supercede the Garmin mapping but you would have to remap the entire lake to show only your mapping.

That is very cool TY!! I want to use this system for mapping bays and channels in remote South East Asia. The plan is to map with the Dingy then transfer the data to the big boat. There will be no internet or cell support. Can anyone help me find info on this type of procedure?

@@sevenfishyoutube TY for the reply! Yes, There is Garmin on the big boat. The big boat will be getting a major electronics up grade in the very near future as well. I want to be certain the new system will support remote charting. Transfer of a mem card will work. Wireless with a range of 30 - 50 meters would be the absolute bomb!! Like the big boat follows the little boat in to a bay.

@@webbey6479 I have not tried yet, but I have dabbled with the CMAPS. The quality did not impress me compared to the preloaded Navionics maps.
