Thanks Jim, after watching your vid i called my local Bass Pro Shops only to find out they were sold out. So i took a long shot and ordered it on line from Bass Pro and I got it yesterday. Free freight plus tax so same price and did not drive 25 miles to store to get it. Now to hook it up and give it a try.

I have a 7608xsv and just paired it with a Panoptix PS30 for making contour maps quickly. The sensor is pricey but worth it. I just started spoonplugging and this really helps my understanding of the bottom 1/2 the time.

Jim, based on my experience with Autochart, I believe you will get a more accurate map if you go from deep to shallow and shallow to deep. I normally start by following the shore to establish a base, then move in and out after that. Dennis D.

+Dennis Davidson Thanks for the tip! I have also done a lot of mapping with the sonarcharts/navionics app. i found out you need to make at least two passes in opposite directions, you'll get the most accurate map.

The Autochart program was a bit of a pain, having to take my laptop out with me. I just purchased a Humminbird Helix 10 SIwith Autochart Live. Going to be so much easier. That Garmin is a great deal.

How do you get the base maps to show up when you insert your sd card. As soon as I put my card in the slot I lose the ability to see all lake Vu maps. As soon as i remove the SD card the maps re-appear.

I just ordered the echomap 93 unit. Do the maps automatically save to your sd card if you turn the unit off? Can you continue your map from prior trips when you go to the lake or does it start a whole new map everytime you go?

The "quick draw" map that is recorded and saves it to your SD card. And yes, if you return to the same lake it will continue and add to your previous map, but leave the same SD card in your unit.

Structure Fishing Thanks for the response! If the water fluctuates on a lake how do you know what to offset the lake water level to? If you don't seems like you would end up with some distorted maps.
@StructureFishing8 жыл бұрын
On the Gramin unit you can adjust the depth offset for different water levels.

Does it work only on lakes?
@StructureFishing8 жыл бұрын
It will work on any body of water, but if it's a small river, it won't be that accurate. For an accurate map, you'll need to criss-cross the area. It will not show the shoreline well.
