Monk tells us 'here's what happened' almost too quickly...
Monk is streaming now on Peacock: pck.tv/3JuixBg
From Season 8, Episode 10, "Mr. Monk and Sharona": When Sharona (Bitty Schram) returns to San Francisco to handle legal issues related to an uncle's death, Monk (Tony Shalhoub) suspects foul play and is torn between the differing styles of Sharona and Natalie (Traylor Howard). Jack Wagner guest stars.

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

@@i___________i8472 so why did he seem so reluctant to get in a closet? And say "I cant do this here." similar to how he freezes up when he's upset about something. "Monk wakes to find that Xavier has abducted him and locked him up in his car's trunk... with Harold! Monk has a breakthrough that allows them both to conquer their claustrophobia: the trunk is not a cage, it is a protective space, keeping them safe from all the things "out there," especially germs." So I wouldn't say he completely overcomes his claustrophobia, as this is very contextual, and he has many other similar fears, such as fear of caves, blankets, etc. So they still shouldn't have pushed him into the closet despite the improvement.

Nathalie looks so classy next to Sharona.... When it comes to Sharona, they wanted to put a character that is the opposite of Monk in every way possible, but why did they never want to improve Sharona's style during the show ? It's like they never really wanted to compliment this character, which sucks, Sharona is a good character, but they dressed her like a clown to discriminate her and make her character not credible. Why ? When Nathalie's character is so highlighted....

A man can’t accidentally stumble down the stairs and end up with the same head injuries one would have from having their head slammed into the concrete multiple times - even if he did hit his head in the fall! It should have been bleeding obvious that he had blunt force trauma from significant force… not an accidental stumble! 😆😆

Would they even have bothered with an investigation? Dude tripped down a moderately steep hillock and smashed his head on a stone surface, possibly bouncing, in front of two witnesses and was dead by the time any ambulance could get there. You can see if for a few frames at a time in two or three places, and at one spot you can see it for a few frames through the paper (i.e., when you are looking at the back of the sheet). It's very minimal text though. I think it's just meant to be a dollar amount. To watch frame-by-frame, stop the video just before the part you want to see, and press the (.) key on your keyboard for the period (known in the U.K. as the full stop). Each touch of the button advances the clip by just one frame. Use the comma key (,) to go back one frame at a time.

I always preferred Sharona. She was selfish, but ultimately did the right thing, just like Monk. She was tough and had all the backbone Monk couldn't during tough situations-and more importantly, she could force Monk back on the right track with the firmness someone like him needed. No offense to Natalie, but Sharona was also smarter. Natalie tends to get everyone in trouble out of obliviousness, and I always found that as frustrating as Randy's bits.
@nnr997
@nnr997 10 ай бұрын
Agree with everything, except that Sharona was "selfish". She chose to leave her job as an RN to work for less money as a Practical Nurse, on call 24/7, sacrificing her ability to even take vacations, all to care for and rehabilitate a man who was at rock bottom after losing his wife. She devoted her days and nights to reforming him from a completely dysfunctional catatonic state to being a useful contributor to society as a consultant to the SFPD, on the road to reinstatement; and she also selflessly devoted her resources - she paid for all of Monk's expenses out of her own pocket, and *never asked for reimbursement* (unlike Natalie, who complained about this immediately). All the while, raising and caring for a child by herself. She put her life on the line to save Adrian in _Mr. Monk Goes To The Theater,_ laid down her pride by letting him win an arm-wrestling match with her in _Mr. Monk And The Paperboy._ Time and time again, she defends him against naysayers, advocates for him, and always protects him without any regard at all for what people think of her. The amount of selfless sacrifices Sharona made is more than many people can lay to claim. She has strong *self-respect,* which is not the same as being selfish. She is very caring, supportive, and empathetic; but her line in the sand is that she doesn't let anyone use, disrespect, or mistreat her. Ever. Even in this episode, the money she was seeking to procure was not for her. It was for her son.

@@restmylovesI appreciate sharonas toughness. However you saying sharona isn't selfish is not entirely true remember she wanted Monk to say a case was an accident when Monk had an observation that it was homicide but she insisted that it was accidental so she could get paid. And she also chose not to believe her own son about witnessing a murder so that she could "continue enjoying her vacation" so to imply that she was perfect and also wasn't selfish like how you portray Natalie as is ludacris. However I agree I don't hate Sharona like I initially expressed to you. I just found her character really annoying and I preferred Natalie's goofiness with the show. Whereas sharona was too serious for my liking. Also Natalie would sincerely apologize to Monk when she knew that she was in the wrong about something that she did. It's not that she doubts him. She knows he's the smartest guy in the room. Have you watched Season 1and 2? Sharina always advocate for Adrian. It just that she sees this opportunity to guve her son something, and Adrian is sad that he's going to take it away once he claim it was murder.

@@eduardomerino8098 nope, we can see it across all episodes. The Natalie character is always pessimistic and critical of Monk, calling him bad karma at one point.
