Honestly this is the funniest-and most wholesome-thing on the internet. "Big Hollywood director" making free Blender tutorials on KZbin. Love it so much. Also Animation Nodes have been haunting my nightmares, so thanks for the advice to not fear them!

I have to say, I find Blender in general pretty intimidating and pretty non-intuitive. The last CG program I used allowed you to change transparency by sliding a control labeled "transparency." I can't even remember the hoops I have to jump through to get Blender to do that. I was working on an effect for an upcoming project for a month before it became apparent it was easier just to do it with a model. My hat's off to anyone who can figure out how to do CG effects well.
@Corn_Pone_Flicks3 жыл бұрын
@@xanzuls The problem being that it won't actually be easier to use than it was before, and maybe future versions should consider adding a slider labeled "transparency" and similar other tweaks, like making light able to pass through glass by default, instead of something you have to wire a new circuit board to do.

It's always a wonderful thing when directors and creators take the time to learn how the other mechanics of a movie function, and possibly incorporate that into their workflow. Everybody wins.

Thanks for sharing. I was unaware of animation nodes. I'm totally going to check these out! My current animations haven't been overly complicated, just spaceships following a path. My most complicated animation is a spaceship with a bunch of robot tentacles moving around like Medusa's hair. I wanted them to animate so they looked like all 50 tentacles were moving differently. I used soft body physics to make them realistically move following one end like moving a rope with one end tied to a wall. I did the blinking Christmas tree light trick where I animate 4 empties and then parent the ends of the 50 tentacles to the empties in a random pattern. Our brains can't see the pattern because there's too many things to look at and the adjacent tentacles move differently. Blender is an amazing tool for filmmakers!

Animation nodes is like any node system. If you take your time reading node per node what it does, it suddenly doesn't seem that complex anymore. It just takes a long ass time to learn all the nodes. Hahaha

will the cars teleporting back to the other end of the bridge not cause motion blur artefacts whizzing across the screen when you finally render with a path tracer?
@guicaldo71644 жыл бұрын
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the teleport happens between two keyframes then there should be no in-betweens and thus no motion blur

@Carnyx724 жыл бұрын
For me, Blender has actually been the simplest and most intuitive 3D software I've used. Except maybe SketchUp; but I still have no idea how to make complex geometry in that, so maybe not. There's so many great tutorials out there for Blender too. Blenderguru has the now iconic doughnut tutorial, or his more recent chair tutorial which get you started on all the basics. Some stuff is pretty complicated, or confusing, but there's ALWAYS a tutorial on how to do it.
@infobirdstudios98704 жыл бұрын
He's right. As long as you persevere and keep making stuff, you will eventually become comfortable with it and it will seem very easy and intuitive. I can second that blender is simple and intuitive, at least after the 2.8 update
