I am always amazed at how you can copy the “sloppy” senders. One guy left no breaks between letters and you got it first try.

It is because of you that brought back my passion for Morse Code. I feel like that little kid Scout from the early 60's that earned a Merit Badge for learning Morse Code. Thanks for reminding me of thoe simpler times and for taking the time to share your Ham Radio experiences and operating.

This was hard to watch, knowing what was about to happen the next couple of days. But you made it, and you helped a lot of people through the chaos. You’re a hero.

I finally had my first successful POTA activation the other day while traveling on vacation (I spent most of the summer focused on SOTA activations). It was fun to hit places I normally don't hit from my home QTH. I've learned a lot by watching your videos. 73.

I bought that Elecraft KX3 because of you and am working hard to be a CW op because of you. Your videos inspire so many. The Mountain Toppers go fast =(

Hi Tom That was me. At the 23 min mark trying to call you. I was activating a park and I had an equipment malfunction. Which is why I did t get back to you. Sorry for the confusion. Hope you are well and recover soon from the storms. Greg. WA3GM

I think CW communication is underdeveloped. I say that because it is more binary and can be understood at greater distances than voice. For the future I think there should be a voice activated device that converts to Morse and of course decoded back to voice. Why not just straight voice? I can pick out the faintest Morse signal and understand it, versus faint voice signals are obscured by conditions or whatever. With today’s technology it is possible. Ham radio has a lot of room to grow.

The new MTR named "Curahee!" reminds me of the "Band of Brothers" miniseries. I'd like to see it action, hopefully You will get one soon.

It’s difficult watching this, knowing what’s coming. I want to say, “Get in your car and head West. GO!”

That squirrel looking at you accusingly because you didn't bring any snacks for it! 😂 Best wishes and 73!

Hello and 73 OM. I enjoy your activation videos. Would your end fed half wave antenna also have worked on 15 meters, thanks to our old friend, the 3rd harmonic?
@ThomasK4SWLАй бұрын
Absolutely! I use all of my 40 and 20M EFHWs on 15 and 10 meters as well. (Of course, the highest band the MTR-3B works is 20M)

I wonder if a ferrite choke on the audio cable might reduce the noise you're hearing

Is that you on bluesky with the qrper handle? or an impersonator?

Thomas, thanks for the video! Testing and proving our kits is all part of our hobby. I have an older MTR-2b I enjoy. Most of my outings use the QRP Labs QCX Mini 20m with a K6ARK CapKey mod velcro’d to TallentCell, a K6ARK EFλ/2 20m & Throw… I hunt most of my contacts, and most are regional, so often I deploy NVIS. Simple. Simple kits are the most fun for me. In hindsight, what a difference a day makes! Knowing what you know now; what radio preps would you have done for Helene? 72 de W7UDT (dit dit)
