This tut actually works in unreal engine 4 when bringing animations from blender. I didn't want to figure out how to make a mouth go up and down with bones or something since I've only recently started using blender. This is a life saver. Thank you.

How did you export to unreal? when I do it, they don't work. I do it as FBX files. :) Everything works, just not the shape keys.

not only this tutorial showed us how to rig a face, it showed a lot on Shape keys , drivers which is a really good feature for a beginner , thanks

one of the best videos ive seen on drivers and shape keys, i wish i found this video earlier. your tutorial is amazing and your really good at explaining things, keep going and your gonna become a really popular blender tutor.
@socks24413 жыл бұрын
ive always used shape keys, and they are a pita when you have a lot of them to animate. using bones instead is a great tip, and using drivers (that i didnt even know existed) is far easier than i expected. thanks for the great little tute.
@razorblade4132 жыл бұрын
Honestly I still don't understand the shape keys use... for example I'm learning about armature and rigging, but if shape keys could move vertices to make moves... Why not just animate the character with shape keys only instead of using armature with bones and rigging methods?

how did you make the model only display that simplified wireframe? I can see far fewer vertices than are implied by the curvature of the mesh, looks like it makes deformation a breeze! how do you do that?
@FruitZeus3 жыл бұрын
Yes!! So basically if you just add the subdivision surface modifier, then you click the little square and the triangle to the right of the modifier it allows you to view the modifier in edit mode. This allows you to work in this soft round method. I love this for box modeling characters.

Great stuff. Interested in how you created the model! You've got like few vertices but I'm guessing the sub-surf gives it that smooth geometry.

Yes it does, sorry I should’ve mentioned that! If you apply a subdivision surface to it, and check the Edit mode view box, it will make the viewport look like that.
