Quicksilver Messenger Service performing Fresh Air at the closing of the Fillmore in 1971. I tried to clean up the audio a bit, let me know what you think.
gary duncan vox, lead guitar
david freiberg vox, bass
dino valenti lead vox, guitar
greg elmore drums
chuck steaks (mark naftalin) keyboards
Quicksilver Messenger Service reformed in 2005 with surviving members Gary Duncan and David Freiberg, often performing "Fresh Air".
True concert footage of early Quicksilver Messenger Service remains rare.

Quicksilver Messager Service never compromised their music. As far as popular music, this song was the only that charted. Their album are killer. They were deeply loved in the San Francisco bay area. I saw them play, they were awesome. Dave in Sierra Vista AZ

I saw these guys in 1968, in Miami beach, FL, while on a trip with my high school. They played in a former bowling alley that was converted to a "discotheque". It cost $3, I believe, for a ticket & the place was jammed. I was right up front, maybe 5 feet from the stage. Great performance & I remember it all these years later!

Dino Valenti (AKA Chet Powers)!!!! Back in 1975, I was a co-promoter in a small venue (warehouse, no seats, plenty of black lights) in Asbury Park NJ called of all things "The Sunshine Inn". Never really made money but it was still "the music" back then. QMS was one of our last shows and their last tour. After their performance, Dino walked around looking for quarters on the floor with a flashlight. "Never know when you are going to need bus fare home." RIP Dino. You made it home!

Плюсую не глядя. Открыл эту группу для себя совсем недавно, ценю и при каждом удобном случае слушаю. Иногда напоминает Д.Гарсию, иногда Сантану.

Hey I like "Fresh Air"! And go ask Francis Crick if having another hit is "puerile". Well, he's dead. Anyway, I like "What About Me" too! I saw these guys after their "glory days" and had a great time! No I didn't get to the early shows at the Avalon or the Fillmore but not many of us younger folk didn't. Some people like Dino some don't. I personally think Cip was the superstar of QMS & it's too bad he left. By all accounts Dino was a jerk. But musical tastes are subjective. Enjoy life. :)

one of the best groups- saw them live at a New Year's Eve celebration at Winterland back in the days of yore- I think it was December 31st 1969. Bill Graham served breakfast for the New Year!

I was lucky enough to see them back in the 70's in Beckley, WV. Helped them set up on the stage. I don't remember who, but they had two drummers. It remains one of my favorite concerts of all time. Great video.

Just now realizing Dino V. can play a mean guitar too, at outdoor festival vids he was swinging it and shoulders so much I thought he was just a posing guitarist, nice to be proved wrong phenomenal voice on this too. Whole band knocked it out of the park; would have been a lovely memory to have experienced this live, & FEEL the engagement between musicians to the audience; performance ART…LOVE💖
