Califonia Sunshine is what he sang as in Orange Sunshine a popular brand of LSD back in the day...or so I've heard... hahahaha. Try the song Mona or Silver and Gold. By the way the Keyboard player on this was Nicky Hopkins, one of the very few people who played with The Beatles and the Rolling Stones,

That echo sound is called “ Reverb “ . It was big during the seventies. Any group out of L.A. and San Francisco sounding better then any regions of country back then .Mid sixties to mid seventies put out the Acid Rock and Hippie overtone songs. I had an equalizer that I hooked up my first digital Pioneer stereo receiver back in 1973 . I could tweak it to give mega bass and reverb. Catching a buzz and listening to “ When the Levee Breaks “ by L.Z. was a trans portal to the planet Pluto . Some one mentioned to listen to “ What about Me.” DEFINITELY play that on KZbin! It compliments Fresh Air and it’s lyrics are still very relevant to todays events in America ……..

I'd like to see Hip Hop or Rappers do vocals like this. Human Pipes at their very best.

7:10 "Have another hit of California sunshine" is the line. When this was released in 1970, I was a junior in high school. Tons of fantastic music came from that era. There's so much, that you just can't listen to all of it. The 1960's were the years of AM Top 40. As time became closer to 1970, there were more groups making albums, especially leading up to the time of Woodstock in August '69. After that, the explosion of groups or bands was so much that, like I stated, it was impossible to listen to all of it. Great time to be a teen and/or in your twenties through the decade..

California Sunshine. LSD was sold on that name. Try "The Fool" (it's a journey to bliss), or Joseph's Coat or Fire Brothers or Hope. They played sort of laid-back Acid R&B.

Well done, more coming your way. That's the San Francisco sound, characteristic of the psychedelic/progressive movement of the late 60s. Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe, It's a Beautiful Day, Iron Butterfly, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Moby Grape, Grateful Dead...all came from that SF, Haight-Ashbury neighborhood

are you sure Iron Butterfly is from the Bay Area? I'm a native and I don't remember them being among our groups. You didn't mention the Doobies, Creedence, Joy Of Cooking, Santana, Romeo Void, Green Day, Train and many others.

Loved this song a lot, still do. Yes agreed, this is definitely the SF sound. Just a great song. I don't know how many original members are still with the band, but they are still performing. I do know that maybe 4 original members died.

Chet Powers on lead is absolutely incredible on this track. Insane how great his performance is here. I read he had a lot of problems in his life - seems a lot of truly great artists have trouble with other parts of their life. My late nephew couldn't do anything and never had money but he played guitar insanely good without any training.

Such a talented band and great song. My father was a service manager at an English auto dealership in SF and Dino/Jessie would bring his Jag in for servicing. He gave my dad some albums, don't think they were signed though. Dad said he had a blond girl on each arm, twins. Lol. Anyway, back then when he played them I hated them. I was too young and I liked the Beatles at that time. Now I appreciate the hell out of them and am glad I was introduced to them then. Brings back great memories of that time of my life too.

One of the first "3 guitar attack" bands formed in 1965. John Cippolina, Dino Valenti, and Gary Duncan. Nicky Hopkins on the keys. Other songs include Mona, Gold and Silver, Who Do You Love, Pride of Man, even a cover of the Roy Roger/Dale Evans signature song Happy Trails To You.

Their most powerful song is probably "What About Me?" You should be the first to do that one. It tells the truth. "Fresh Air" was on the radio way back, and is pretty cool too. Lord knows we need fresh air.

From my perspective as an old fart, this is such a distinct west coast hippie sound - as opposed to the UK bands I grew up with.

We watched your commentary on "Fresh Air" today, and had to laugh. And then we discussed why you came up with your conclusions. As with another young gentleman, a little younger than you, commenting on the same song with a similar reaction as you. We actually felt sad for the two of you. Are you both Metal fans? Have you both put yourselves in a little box, only litening to the same music as when you were 15 years old? This is not unusual, and you shouldn't be offended by what I say here. l was lucky to have parents who were music fans, and I was able to listen to almost every song ever written and recorded. From Beetoven to Bach to Jazz, to Country, Big Band, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and on and on. Quicksilver Messenger Service is my favorite band ofall time, and we have seen them several times in the 1970's. They are a BASIC ROCK BAND, nothing more. But they had style all there own due to with the main three members and their individual abilities. But with all of that said, I am a professional musician and have no idea of any of the 1,000 new bands your are probably farmiliar with. I could easily play guitar for almost any band in the history of recorded music, but the musicians I meet today who are 10 years younger than me could never do that. Because they have pigenholed themselves in the same stlye of music since they were 15. And I find that to be a very sad thing. Keep listening to all music prior to 1992, it is so incrieibly deverse in style and sound.

Quicksilver was among the most psychedelic of the Bay Area bands ("the Hat", "Mojo", "Cobra"). But their singer was so abrasive I'm not surprised they didn't have much commercial success.
