Try using a square from the firewall to the inside of the fenders to see which side is out. You are doing a great job

Good job Josh ! I know your pain , I spent a whole day getting a hood adjusted on my Nova. All the stuff didnt fit too well from the factory, they just got it close . I kept wanting to tell you things to try while watching but you finally came around !! Stay warm

Could the radiator support have a slight bend on the drivers side causing the fender to be tighter at the top than the bottom?

Aftermarket parts are so frustrating.

I know the Ford trucks of that era came from the factory with not to great sheet metal fitment. My understanding fitment of sheet metal wasn’t a priority on trucks back then. Whether that’s true or not I really don’t know.

Trucks used to be utilitarian vehicles only. Fit, finish, ride quality, and amenities didn't really rate as top priorities. Cost and functionality were probably the main value factors. It wasn't until probably the early 1990s before trucks really swapped over to "primary use" vehicles. I's say the 1988 and up GM trucks, the 1992 and up Ford trucks and the 1994 and up Dodge trucks were the start of this mindset.

@ those 1988 to 1998 Chevy and GMC trucks were hard to beat for reliability especially with the tried and true 350 V8. I think they were actually a better truck than ford of that era. My brother had a 1994 GMC Pickup and that truck had some really heavy doors on it.

Could your welding on the henges have pulled that cowl metal over? Next question... can't you adjust the fitment at the top by slicing, tweaking, and welding on those fender mounting tabs?
@QuickSpeedShop11 сағат бұрын
I don't think welding moved it. I will have to cut the aftermarket fender brace I think to tweak it. Passenger side seems to be doing okay.
