When players say, "Arty doesn't require skill", I think that what they mean is, "Arty requires a different set of skills than the ones that the ones that I've developed and prize." If I've worked hard to develop proficiency in a certain skill set, then I want other players to have to use the skills that I've gained mastery of. This not only validates my investment in that skill, but also ensures that I have a high success rate.

What I love about the BC arty is you can relocate easily and the turret allows to you 'peek' from behind cover. Also you can take unusual positions on map due to the mobility and turret, positions most of the slow arty would never be comfortable in even if they could get there in less than 3 mins.

For the record, we weren't even bothering checking the Stream. I don't even watch streams when I don't play. For the almost entire game we had enemy tanks in the cover and couldn't do shit, then we decided to focus on counter arty after seeing 2 tracers coming from behind a that house. Seeing the stream record somene posted in the comments below made me just clear some things out of accusations. That's all.

QB -- I play the BC-155-55 and the Bat 58 quite a bit, if you don't mind a few observations ;-). First, retrain your gunner to have 100% Snap-shot and *then* camo, it really helps a *lot* to bring down the aim time in conjunction with the GLD, and coffee. Also, I run 100 octane on the Bat 55 because it helps the traverse speed, bringing the aim time down even more if you are on the move as well as having better acceleration. [You cannot use octane on the Bat 58 as it has a 66 km/h top speed.] After the 2nd crew skill is complete I retrained all to BIA immediately, again, because it helps bring down the reload and reduce aim time. 2nd skill is camo for all except gunner, which is always snap shot and then camo. You will really like the Bat 58, my 1st game in it on Mountain Pass I got 6.6k dmg and 5 kills. Great game you had here, btw!

i agree with the things you said about playing arty making you aware of where they might be located and it helps you avoid them easier. I started playing arty quite a bit and my stats went from blue to unicum super fast because I knew where I was safe and where I wasn't so I could play more aggressive in certain areas or where to hold back. I suggest to others to just play even a few dozen games just to learn these things and it will help your gameplay overall.

Battle assistant is golden for OBJ. 261. With 261, you want to go for direct hits instead of splashes, particularly because you're going to be slinging AP rounds most of the time, and when you fire HE you still want direct hit because 1. low splash radius and 2. low firing arc, meaning if it overshoots them, it's more likely to overshoot further meaning the splash will be further away, as opposed to tanks that have a high firing arc.

+QUAD405 I finished few times on top with my GC, but it requires for you to do most dmg and kills against T10 vehicles. It was usually a Gore Medal (most of the time = high caliber) effort with 3-4 kills. It is hard, very hard, but doable... Best way however is to use platoon to adjust MM, e.g. T7/8 arty with T10, or platoon with scouts same tier or 1 tier higher. Personally i found the best way how to do this M44 platooned with T6 scout(T7 vehile). Honestly, i did fire HEAT and used Cola(burns thru credits a lot), but 5k dmg in T9 game in T6 arty speaks for itself...

i did this mission 3 times in a row :3 M44 with HEAT ->3k dmg? 5HEATS ->top dmg? in tier 6 of course ->top exp? very possible cause 3k dmg is gore, high caliber and maybe 3-4Kills(oneshots).

@Big O No it's not. I'm not saying the situation is right (or just) in a good vs bad way, but it's how the game is. I would love it if they didn't introduce Japanese super heavies you can only pen with certain shells, but they did. So I will press the 2 key and shoot at them with it. Tanks that don't require it, I won't. You act like I load all premium shells in every vehicle, but how they hell would you know? Anyway, HEAT shells do fuck all against spaced armour so pressing the 2 key is not an instant win if you have HEAT shells as the premium ammo. Saying; 'Premo rounds are for noobs or desperate players' proves you are no expert as you seem to think they are an instant win! I didn't say the situation was fantastic I just said that firing a few rounds at the right targets is part of the game. Oh and BTW, this video came out 30 months ago. You might want to watch a newer video to debate on seeing as the game has changed so much. Don't watch the old videos with out of date mechanics and personal missions to get tips.

@QuickyBaby Love your content but just a few points. When there are 3 or more arty on a team it is a good idea for a good arty player to attempt to counter battery and kill them (although I would say doing so on a french arty which all have pretty low splash is the sole exception) it is also easier because the more arty there are the more likely you will see tracers if you know where to look. Also notice when you said "I am not going to say they were watching my stream: implying possible stream snipe, you were very close to the other 2 arty on your team which makes it much much easier to pinpoint your location with more tracers coming from the same location in a short time. Most high tier arty have a large splash radius further improving your chance of killing an enemy arty. What that platoon was doing was correct. One last thing you seem to be implying the arty were gunning for you because of your win8 or who you are however they would have no way of telling your tracer from one of the other 2 arty until you are spotted. They were just countering.

Hey QB how do you justify binocs over say camo net? I've always considered that binocs on an SPG is only useful so very rarely, but for sure I can say that in some end games in BC arty I've been wishing I had them. Camo net seems more useful in most games, since in most games you are at risk of being spotted.

google and download the mod, it's called battle assistant, copy the files into your wot or res_mods folder. You might also want to check the mod_battle_assistant.txt in your scripts\client\gui\mods folder do change the key. i think usually its [Keys.KEY_J] or [Keys.KEY_MOUSE2], edit as you like.

Is artilery tracer still a thing? I keep overhearing bits like it have been removed and blah blah blah, and I can't spot them even when I dedicate the round to it...

The tracer visibility is offset about 5 meters from the SPG so you want to give your counterbattery missions an approximate 5 meter adjustment.
