Quiet luxury has become boring and predictable. It’s taken the fun out of fashion, turning everyone into the same ‘wannabe’ lookalikes instead of embracing personal style.

‘Quiet luxury’ has always existed, so those who were cosplaying were always gonna get bored and move on to the next thing. Similarly, there are always going to be those of us who are maximalists and aren’t interested in the minimalist/fade into the wallpaper shit.
@CassieThorpe6 сағат бұрын
Definitely! 💖
@salihughes5 сағат бұрын
Totally this. I also think no one beyond TikTok really cared about it one way or another. It seemed massive but I think it was mainly people *saying* it was massive, rather than leagues of people changing how they dressed. You are either that person or you’re not.
@deborahcurtis13855 сағат бұрын
IDK there is also the inevitable fact of people being financially squeezed in which case classic clothes will work far better than trends. Or you get the other inevitable fact that people get older and when they do they no longer care so much about trends. But there is the reality that minimalism and classic clothes are frankly BORING!

I'm not giving up my quiet luxury and stealth wealth style! i love it so much! I also LOVE texture! so the smooth Bottega is a F* no from me. But I really truly appreciate seeing all the different types of personal style out there. Bottega was the ultimate quiet luxury brand before Piana, Cuccinelli etc. So what they’re doing now feels more authentic and more sustainable than their (admittedly very fun) Daniel Lee era. It doesn’t feel like a change to me - more like they’ve gone back to what they know best.

I am and will always be an over-accessorized person (more is...more), and I will never do "understated" jewelry. Ever. However, I do have to say I have leaned in a bit into the neutral palette. One wonderful aspect about this "quiet whatever" era we're in is the beautiful new shades of neutrals that I had never seen on clothing before: from new gorgeous pastels and shades of gray (no pun inteneded) to mostly, the spectacular chocolate-rose and chocolate-burgundy tones. Neutrals are not garden variety neutrals anymore. But yes, I am seeing pops of color emerging...blues, violets, red. And...love that too!! [On another note, we can tell you are thinking about the Alaia dress Christian had for you---yes, we are all hoping you purchase :) You looked so breathtaking in it!]

It has however focused people on basics, you can then diverge from them in an interesting way. It makes economic sense and the emphasis on quality over quantity makes a lot of sense. I don't want a dysfunctional wardrobe, or to be always 'on' making a statement but neither do I want to be buried in boredom. If you have a dramatic body type rather than athletic then you need a bit of drama.

If we are to be honest and serious about it, quiet luxury was always bad as a trend economically, in the long term for the industry. Timeless pieces that last won't make you overconsume the following seasons because your garment won't be worn out or “out of fashion”. People that are wealthy consume bespoke tailoring that don't need a massive platform, and haute couture, so they were always out of the cake cutting anyway. If the majority of the buyers invest in more pieces that won't be obsolete in three seasons forward, fashion industry won't be able to exploit their profit to the maximum. It was always faded to be a rapid frenzy attached to people that liked the aesthetics to emulate, rather than a personal and conscious style.
@SMR2185 сағат бұрын
I knew that trend would not last, as a trend. You get bored 🥱 with the lack of variety. All brands started to look the same. Quiet luxury is good to get a basic wardrobe that you can build on, but I want something unique to add to it, something colorful, something I can play with to add to my personal style. Without that where’s the fun?

Every closet should contain those staple ‘quiet luxury pieces’ mixed in with those ‘louder’ pieces, I love an all black outfit paired with colourful shoes and bags, a bit of quiet and a bit of loud, nothing wrong with both. I think people can get too invested in following only one trend at a time and forget to be individuals with their own individual style and taste. Fashion should always be fun and full of self expression

As a young kid in the fifties in the U.S., I remember the closets we had. They were small. My mother and grandmother had dressers filled with cashmere sweaters. They had wool skirts, floral cotton dresses, strings of pearls, gold or pearl earrings, structured bags, gloves. It was quite luxury with natural materials. It was not until the sixties that things got crazy and fun, and it started in England.

Angelica in the house! Love a Geli moment! I hope that quiet luxury is dead. It's not that I have an issue with the classic looks. I do them from time to time myself; but quiet luxury is SO BORING! Where's the whimsy, the audacious looks, "the good old razzle-dazzle", the edgy looks, the colors and creativity? Bring back the sparkle and joy, I'm lease, for all that is holy. I'm close to 56, people, so I'm not getting any younger and this quiet luxury, sad beige mom BS is making my eyes bleed and my brain cry. I see it, cringe and feel the need to wear logos, bright colors and punk jewelry; all at the same time, just to see something fun. Thank the universe for Cassie, as she brings the joy, happy and color with her every time she posts.

This quiet luxury trend, not the existence of quiet luxury, but the trend itself has been a joke to me and it seems as though not a lot of people want to call it what it really is. Quiet luxury has always existed in fashion for those that prefer not to garner a lot of attention with their fashion. The trend, to me, came on the heels of Logomania and the infusion of streetwear that sent fashion houses into territories that leaned unfavorably for certain groups but made them a ton of money. It's almost as if the industry was being "DEI'd" with the fashions. To separate, thus appearing to elevate from this, we got "the quiet luxury trend." It’s so laughable as I'm writing this. But, IYKYK. Great discussion Ca$$!

Living through what I referred to as the American beige 90s, when the economy was down and all of a sudden khaki pants and GAP pocket tees became high fashion, was the first time experiencing the fashion gods dictate a trend that the majority followed. It was boring to see everyone on the social scene dressed the same so I opted for bright colors; Benetton outfits; an assortment of LV, Fendi and Coach bags; with Gucci, Ralph Lauren or Cole Haan loafers. My clothing choices, though bright, were largely logo-free which is something I’ve stuck with. Going through the closet, I’ve realized quiet luxury is not new. My many Galliano, Lacroix, McQueen, Armani, Saint Laurent and Ferre suits were very much IYKYK at that time and that hasn’t changed. That low-key RTW esthetic works for me and I jazz it up with a Classic Chanel flap or LV GO-14 and a logo sneaker here and there. I almost bought the jacket you’ve on in this video, despite it debuting at the peak of the quiet luxury trend but, opted for the pajama pants instead to add a bit of razzle dazzle to a classic sweater or cardigan. My advice, learn what works for you and incorporate trends sparingly into your own core style or aesthetic… you do that very well, Cassie!

Out here in the countryside, logos are ever hungered for. I'll just schlep around in my BR until a massive trust fund or endowment lands in my lap. Experimental chemo isn't covered by my insurance. No point in a glam skeleton, despite what Hollywood seems to be trying lately lol. Check your insurance coverage. If the insurance company can override your specialist doctor on what treatments for illness get covered, get different insurance if you can

I liked it. I've been "preparing" for this my whole life! I don't like bright, loud colors and patterns where people look like they belong at a beach party (I don't, however, mind a logo as long as it's not head to toe). Give me neutrals or give me death!

I like the move away from the super low key quiet luxury. I definitely love quiet luxury in the sense that I love having a set of very high quality luxury basics. But in order to have some individualism and to express our own personal sense of fashion style, we needs to have something fun as well. This movement towards a middle ground of maybe low key items with one standout element (vs loud in all aspects style of the early post Covid era) is just the middle ground we need.

The irony was the people shouting about quiet luxury really weren't happy if their pieces was so quiet people won't know it was LUXURY. Also those pieces were hardly that different from main street or even cheaper brands at first glance that it was just ridiculous money to spend on maybe 10-30% better quality things. Also with how low the workers and farmers were paid for the items, the difference in the price tag was only lining the pockets of the company. Also... how many core items can one really buy without being tired of them if you are a shopaholic and really want to refresh your wardrobe every season? With how much carbon footprint is with each garment, I think low-buy is the way, but that pretty much does not really align with fashion trends and marketing/profit (ahem ahem). So if you are choosing to buy anyways might as well buy statement pieces to feel like each purchase is unique and time stamping, you do you!

Not really surprising that quiet luxury has had its day due to its biggest fans (millionaires like Gwyneth Paltrow) are not the biggest customer base. Loro Piana didn’t really help the cause by not paying the farmers in Peru for the cashmere they charge so much for. It made quiet luxury look more like the big luxury con. May as well wear it loud and proud if the brand is ethical.
