Loved the video! I’m a BW in my mid 30s and I have been getting into “quiet luxury” the last couple years. I wasn’t even trying to I just love neutral colors, peacoats, trenchcoats etc.. The irony is I’m an artist/painter that also loves color lol, so I do both but different times. I love the quiet lux look in the fall/winter, and in the warmer months I do more color. I never been heavy into logos though, and when I really get the bag 💰 I will be even more quiet lol 😂. Subscribed!

Your personality is adorable! For me personally I like wearing monochrome beiges because it helps calm my mind, and inspires me to focus. I have a closet full of colors, and another full of monochromatic basics. People usually could tell my mood by what colors I wear. If I’m colorful, most likely means I’m up to date with all of my projects in life, if I’m in beige I’m most likely stressed of those said projects in my life. As far as logos I personally never been a fan because I feel like it calls for too much attention. I like to leave my hair out, it’s usually big- so my looks are already screaming, so I don’t need logos to get any more attention. 😂 Given that I’ve dealt with a handful of intrusive men (& out on the street of lack of personal space; I mainly dress in monochrome now. Tired of people trying to pet my hair, grab my hand out in public, or even ask to take pictures of me/ with me. I’ve had to tell a man to delete the photo of me I witnessed him take on his phone- how lied, I showed him, and he was embarrassed. Monochromatic wardrobe is more of a safety thing for me.. the more I blend in everyday, the better.😅

Whatever style we go with don't go broken over it. No sense in going broke over quiet luxury if it ain't gonna make you or keep you with money otherwise its no different than loud lux. I love the segment of Quiet Lux but what does a petite woman look for in a long coat when trying to purchase a long coat? Love Brunello Cuccinelli ! I loved working in the retail industry for the discounts and the connections.
@ITSCAROLYNGRAY Жыл бұрын
👀👀 it’s either we need to shop in “petite” stores or get an amazing tailor to shorten everything for you. And we both know there’s not a lot of petite brands. They also fizzled out with plus size stores and brands about 10 years ago. It’s frustrating but finding a tailor that doesn’t get annoyed with having to take apart pieces to ensure it fits you perfectly, really comes in handy.

@ITSCAROLYNGRAY Жыл бұрын
👀 honestly i know what you mean. I worked at saks Ny when they had entire floor dedicated to plus size. They decided to dissolve it in 2014 and i thought it was one of the worst decisions. Even though we had other brands to style clients in like max mara, Eileen Fischer , or Hugo boss it was still very difficult to work with. Since then i haven’t seen much develop and i have to play around a lot with different brands to help my clients who are plus size. It’s exhausting and sad.

But i always try to keep my eyes and ears open for new brands that can serve the plus size client. It’s important to me that there’s something for everyone when I share.

I have some times when I like to do a "quiet luxury look" or what I call a mature classic look but I have to say most of the time that kind of look is a little too boring for my taste. Its very rarely surprising, doesnt really give anything new or interesting. It does look great though, effortless and timeless but most of the time its not fun enough for me....

Do understated luxury if it speaks to you but don’t do it because it’s the “trend”. Because there something ironic about trying to look understated only because you’re trying to signal “old money”. There is no shame on not coming from “old money”. I fact new money means you did it on your own!
@ITSCAROLYNGRAY Жыл бұрын
Agreed with you. What’s ironic about this trending now is that it’s also a response from the pandemic. Designers are seeing “Times are hard, let’s not be too flashy. Let’s go back to minimalism and pcs that can be worn several ways and last long. “ so yes i feel it’s never been out of style because I’ve always gravitated towards minimalist fashion and styling them in quirky ways.

To me “quite luxury” seems to be giving off the message that the owners don’t care about following trends, but in reality they care more than the people who are displaying visible logo’s. This small group are the uber wealthy, who are just trying to keeping up with the people in their group of society. It’s some sort of signal to say, yes we have $$$$ as well. 😉 It’s kind of funny honestly. The only true winner is the company who is selling, say a baseball cap for over a $1,000!

Money is not the quintessential necessity to indicate good or exquisite taste! If you can identify fabric by feel , know your color wheel and most certainly know your body and “how” to dress it……you’re on the right track. Stop promoting the homosexual moguls of fashion by buying into their renditions of luxury and fashion. Look deep inside yourselves and know YOU first and foremost, then go from there.
@sinceresinclair Жыл бұрын
It's not a trend. This has been part of affluent life for ages.if you know you know.
@ITSCAROLYNGRAY Жыл бұрын
Hi Sincere. Thank you for your share. If you know then you know this is just a trending fashion topic. Sure this style has been apart of the affluent/ elite world for many years and for some reason I cannot wrap my head around the fact that a few ppl have come at me a bit sideways to share their disdain with me covering this topic. Or anyone covering this topic, because it’s a buzz going on about it but i wonder if you’re telling them the same thing as if wrong to discuss it at all. The folks who “created “ this aesthetic are a group who actually don’t want people who look like me to be apart of it or to emulate it…. So yes I know, but I own it now. I’ve rolled it into my personal style with some other styles. I like this for me and I love seeing people who look like me adopting this style as their own. However that looks like. No one says anything if I cover the topic of maxi skirts which has been around for many years, that’s not new but it’s highlighted as a trend right now. Just like the other trends such as “sheer” or “Barbie core” but when it’s an “affluent” style it’s annoying to some part of the audience instead of considering this perspective : this was meant for old white money. This trend was meant to keep me out as a black woman. Well guess what cookies! my ancestors pulled that fine cotton to create those garments those elitist wore and this is my time to adopt something that was meant to keep me out and I’m going to look better than those people who thought I’m not human enough to wear the same things as them ever did in “their own” style. There are tons of perspectives on this. Fashion is cyclical af! Right ? So this is not “new” but it’s an aesthetic I wanted to discuss on my channel and it’s come back around to be a highlighted style. IT IS JUST A FASHION TOPIC. This is meant to be a fun channel, and I take my time and work hard create and be consistent with what I share. So yes I know, been knew, and I hope we all know now.
