Even though this cover does not get much attention, you could hear the talent with Randy, being able to take a song and make it better as he would later do with Black Sabbath songs, he puts better solos on these songs and he plays the songs with more knowledge and better phrasing

Randy sounded okay with Riot, how did he go from above average to unbelievable with Ozzy? This is one of the better songs from the pre Ozzy years.

Style of music. Ozzy was more metal and hard rock, while QR was just pop. Plus Ozzy pretty much let Randy do almost what he wanted with the records. It may have seen Randy was above average with QR, but he was already unbelievable when he was 15 years old.

Dave Saenz Musically he was better than VH. Like VH wouldn’t dare go into classical scales the way Randy did, but Randy could never tap the way VH did nor could he find a better tone. VH was more dynamic in my opinion.

@@backtoshallabal6662 I agree VH had a great sound. The live RR Tribute album has an amazing sound. Honestly that's the sound I want to replicate in my guitar. It's just beautiful. Randy tried not copy VH tapping, but he still did. But in my opinion RR had wau better solos. Children of the Grave live, is just how well be could improvise. Crazy Train as well all other tracks were improvised. Tribute album is his greatest collection. I wish he included more tracks from Diary of a madman and a few more Black Sabbath. Only 3 of those are included. But they sound better than Iommi my other favorite guitar player along with VH. Any other guitar songs that are out there let me. Know I am a big fan of guitar master pieces. My goal as a kid was to be like these guys. I never got there. Still working on it. Just don't have time to play.

Dave Saenz I agree with the solos and compositions. I do argue though that out of all of Ozzy’s guitarist Jake had the most chops. Randy was the most brilliant but Jake was doing some crazy stretches and tapping that not even RR was doing. Listen to Rock N’ Roll Rebel. The riff requires big hands to say the least.
