Son, I watched your video all the way through with excitement. When I saw you using multi layers of fiberglass knew that your build was going to be successful. From then on I was impressed by your choices of devices and dependable wiring apparatus. At 69 yrs. I still look for ways such as your way to have fun. Sleeping and dining on the water inside your own homemade vessel should inspire anyone.

I'm my world, Calling a young person Son, puts them in my backyard, on a Saturday morning, shouting " yep, we got this. You wait". I was nineteen years old when I first heard my father call me Dennis and he talking about me to someone else. It felt so strange, I felt a spurt of jealousy. Boy was my name and I was Dad's son. Lol

How much does a build like this cost in equipment/parts/time?

@@ms.m3n I can’t say as I don’t build things like this! But you can get fibreglass and resin and catalyst pretty cheap. We use a boat mould put the gel coat on allow, allow it to dry and then fibreglass directly on it and layer it up. If you can build a good frame out of wood or something the fibreglass will and resin will make it waterproof. I hope this helps!.

@@chestercopperpot777 are you in the USA? I’m from England but all boats have there propeller and stern (back) either under the boat or you can have an outboard attached that can be overhanging the back on the transom. They can be in a place that you could potentially fall onto it but that’s very rare, especially as you’ll have the transom (rear of the boat) google it and it will make more sense. I hope this helps 😊

One thing about camping that I remember was not having to "struggle for survival" at all. I had time to relax and eat and explore every day. The hardest part was coming back to "normal" living. I think our ancestors had it mostly figured out. You could flop a mosquito net over the top and be big free in the future.😊

A lake is always evaporating, but at night the days warmth transitions into the lake, and the night air is colder than the evaporating water, so thusly it shows like steam in the colder air. It's the same as when u can c ur warm breath in cold weather. So u can say it's the breath of the lake. Lol

Hey, you should add some cleats on that so it's easier to tie stuff like your anchor off, or tie up to docks and such easier! A depth/fish finder/transducer would be a fun addition too!

You’re a freakin’ genius. I would have to get mosquito netting for both ends of the sunshade (for overnight camping). And I’d put a little window on the sides of the sunscreen so I could look out to the sides while lying down. That same process could make a good camping shelter. My compliments. You sure are fun!

You make some of the best videos on KZbin. I watched this with my 9 year old cousin and he was blown away at what intelligence and hard work can make. You remind me of Mr. Wizard from my childhood. The major problem that I see with your boat is that it's a flat bottomed boat with no keel for directional stability. That sunshade also acts as a sail so any breeze will blow the boat around with no keel. Other than that , have fun. Trying different fishing lures. It has come to my attention that most fishing lures catch more fishermen than fish. lol

Always put down chop strand mat BEFORE the cloth. The cloth is a sandwich material, works best with mat or chop on both sides

I like how unconventional your ideas are. It feels like you look up how things work (e.g. the pontoons) and how they are commonly designed but then create something on your own, only loosely based on how it's commonly done. And your projects look so hilariously rough but they still work - because you make them so! 😊 I also like how happy you look and sound in these videos. I really enjoyed your step-by-step instructions! It reminded me of the assignments we got as kids where we had to write down step-by-step instructions on how to make toast or make a telephone call, starting with buying toaster etc. You have a very soothing and mellow voice which puts me at ease as well! Wish I had your talent❤

I loved your video. I'm 76 years old and I would have eaten a fish or two. The only catch & I do is catch & release into my frying pan. lol The misty water was creepy like you'd expect something to get out & climb on your little boat. Well I'm glad you're safe & the only creatures were bugs. If you wanted to have a swim you probably sould be near the dock to make sure you could get back in your boat. You are a very talented builder. You can see what you want to do & do it. That's a gift.

So I go to KZbin this evening and I see I’ve got a number of new videos from my subscriptions. Then I see The Quiet Nerd and I already know that's the one I want to see most. What a cool, cool project! You did such a great job on it and made it look easy. It seemed to handle nicely, and was extremely stable. How fun to camp on your little boat!

Thank you! and for your questions no engineers in the family and Ive always liked to tinker and build things. the internet is an amazing place for knowledge so I use it lot to learn about materials and things techniques like for example about fiberglass for this video in particular. And my last job I was a glass blower before KZbin. Thanks for stopping by! - Cheers!

Enjoyed your video. I was initially going to ask why you didnt roughen the styrofoam surface to allow for better fiberglass adhesion, but quickly realized you know exactly what your doing. With the heafty epoxy layers, I'd bet the styrofoam could be removed and the fiberglass shell plenty of strength. I would probably have made the center wooden piece of straping on the bottom thicker so as to function has a keel which would help with steering big time.

First time I found your channel was through a KZbin recommendation (gaming over night in the woods) and I subbed immediately. I just love the content you create. Its also very relaxing to just watch you build and then go play outdoors. When you pulled out the yellow tarp, I was like Hey!
