Tom Selleck's best role and the best Western of the 90's imo. 160 years later and we still want to go back to this life. It's time.
@GeoEstes

A life that never really existed. Don't mistake Hollywood romanticism for reality. It wasn't all John Wayne and Quigley; it was a lot more Clint Eastwood. The 1800s are fun to play around with from a story-telling perspective, but it was a dirty, brutal life in many parts of the country.

I have to tell y’all that my daddy died peacefully in his sleep at 89 years old in his big easy chair. Pop loved old western movies. John (the Duke) Wayne was close to God to my daddy. My precious daddy died in his easy chair at the age of 89 years old on the 4th of July watching Quigley Down Under. My brother told me it was his newest favorite Western. Mr. Tom Selleck should feel honored. I watch Quigley Down Under frequently and imagine that I’m watching it with my sweet daddy💕💞

Same I remember it from when my dad watched it when I was little and I stayed to watch it but only remembered bits and pieces (like the dingos-in-the-cave part, him meeting/saving crazy Cora at the beginning,) but could not remember the name. So my dad also didn’t know what I was talking about when I tried to explain it and I found it on Netflix and I’m so fucking happy I could watch this movie for eternity tbh. I love the story, the pacing, the characters, the soundtrack - all of it. I feel like I’m fangirling over this rn but I really do love it so much.

RIP Pops. Miss you like crazy, and the countless late nights we’d spend watching this movie on repeat. It’s crazy how much I can see the similarities between you and Mr. Matthew Quigley. All I can pray is that I’ll join you up there, one day, wrangling cattle and sharpshooting buckets at 200 yards. May your soul and heart rest in peace.

It’s easy to think of movies such as The Magnificent Seven , True Grit , The Cowboys when you think of great westerns, while I love those movies I also loved this one, Tom Selleck was so good in this, the scene where he rides off then stops and turns to look at the woman is so good guy hero it gives you goosebumps. We need more of these movies today, no foul language, just a real feel good movie.

Probably the one of the best "Western" theme music for motion pictures,that and Magnificent Seven,and cannot forget "High Noon"> but Quigley Down Under is the top one. Wish Tom Sellick had made a sequel or prequel . He has become one of the best actors in the last 40 years. Versatile and unmatched in any role .

The movie's theme was actually written by Elmer Bernstein for the John Wayne film "The Sons of Katie Elder", and Pouledaris blatantly plagiarized it. Watch "The Sons of Katie Elder" just once.

Basil Poledouris composed a mighty iconic score as big as Australia itself. Matthew Quigley, a stranger in a strange land, becomes just as big. God, I love this movie!😎
@terryeverhart4611
@terryeverhart4611 9 ай бұрын
Pouledouris didn't write the theme and most of the score. He plagiarized it note for note from Elmer Bernstein's theme and soundtrack from "The Sons of Katie Elder". If John Williams has made a name for himself plagiarizing the classics, Pouledouris has made a name for himself plagiarizing Bernstein. When he came under fire for this, he said, "It's just bc I admire Bernstein so much." Kids get kicked out of college for plagiarizing a lot less.

Tom Selleck always is a standout in a western film. I have always thought that if they were to ever make a movie of the old TV series the Rifleman, Selleck would have been a great choice to play Lucas McCain. In fact it would be great to see some of the old TV westerns made into movies.

All of the old western shows of my childhood. High Chappell the Virginian. I could name a bunch more. Here's a weird thing yall listen to the theme song for the dating game. Done by Herb Albert Spanish flea. . Doesn t it have areas where it sounds like the Quigley theme. It s the horns I think.. Tom Selleck was on the dating game. I remember that one. I think I was like 10. This movie is one of the best western ever made in my estimation.
