Anyone else ever feel like when our moms and grandmoms used the old school pressing combs and all those “curl activators” and grease our hair was healthier ? I feel like that now that I see this pressing comb lol loved this
@lavonyahaywood57915 жыл бұрын
For sure! I've been feeling this way too. My hair was long when I was a child, and never had heat damage from a stove top hot comb, and royal crown hair grease!! These new oils, spray heat protestants, and flat irons just are not cutting it for me.

Because you're using an electric hotcomb, nothing beats the old fashioned one that heats up on a stove eye...or hot plate.

I’m from South Africa and we never really hot combed. Would a hot comb be damaging to hair? Is it safe? Or would you have heat damage?
@ToniMBullock5 жыл бұрын
Joy I recommend an electric one to avoid heat damage. The temperature is better controlled, the combs in the stove have variable temps and can easily overheat. I really like the instyler as well. Very similar results.
@Karmag33 жыл бұрын
@@joy5016 it is just as damaging as any other heat. If you use a heat protector 🧴 you will be ok.

Ok my hot comb (inherited from step mum) lives in a kitchen drawer, every now & again when the front needs a touch up i put it on stove top and pass it through, then cool it in cold water and put it back in drawer. But those bare shoulders babes - a total no no, put a towel around it, that hot thing drop on you, you getting a burn for sure.

What product do you keep your hair moisturized after using the hotcomb?

I don’t really moisturize when my hair is straight because I want it to last but I use an anti frizz serum (Garnier has a good one) to keep it shiny and frizz free.

is there even much of a difference? i feel like if im still gonna need to use the flat iron i should just skip the hot comb, its basically 2 passes of the flat iron just adding an extra step

@ShainaJay5 жыл бұрын
@@Quijuandas ok so get the one that goes on the stove? i bought an electric one!
@keishawhite80855 жыл бұрын
Or just use the hot comb on the roots and edges cause it can get closer and the flat iron the length. I used to do it but it is timely.
@rashida77776 жыл бұрын
It looked a bit dry. Maybe a deep oil treatment after a hydrating treatment. Okay to use protein conditioners when using heat. Your hair also reverted back quickly. You can tell with the curl pattern on the ends it became frizzy. Mine did that...It's when I needed more moisture, a trim, or when the heat isn't high enough. Also, you have to have a more uniformed system. If you will use the pressing comb first then flat iron. Do that every time. Even with the stray hairs. Don't think that it's just a little section it won't matter. Your hair will look more uniform. This is your first time in 5 years since using your flat iron. I think that the style you chose is wonderfully carefree and can easily be arranged in a "natural" hairstyle as it gets older.

For me...and I have a nice length of all natural hair....the old school pressing iron works very well and it doesn't take 2&3 pass through or a flat iron. My Mom raised us pressing our hair with the old iron that you put on the stove. Try it you'll get a straighter look.
@fortunate1forever670 Жыл бұрын
Exactly, the hair salon that grew my hair down my back only uses pressing combs. When clients want to do their hair at home it’s recommended to use two to three electric combs to control the heat. I still use my pressing comb that you place on the stove. I bought the hot comb stove for it.
