Enjoyed this J, you've obviously done your research and put in the work. I appreciate this video because like you and a lot of folks who watch, I'm trying to simplify and/or lighten up my gear when I leave the house to play. You gave me a new idea here so thanks!

@@markpell8979 hey Mark Thanks... I use this stuff all the time and I like sharing information. I like the Quilter stuff. Been using it for years, however, knowing what I know know, and already having both the US and UK versions of the superblock, I would not bother buying a Quilter direct amp. Sure it does its job well, and has a packed feature list but at the end of the day, the guitar tone is really no better in any way.... But some people like foot switches hahaha!

Both are really good. You're spot on! The block worked as well as the direct amp version. Cool comparison!!

@@calbrockocat8728 Thanks. Yeah I'm not convinced the Direct amp is better🤔

After watching your pedal video, I bought that Caline. Glad to see it still in the mix. I'm also warming up to the ts side, and the Timmy is great. Put it in front of a budget multi fx and run into twin Fenders set clean. Good tones and a good price too. Thanks for a great tip on caline.

@markpell8979 yes sir! This Caline Brigade has a Timmy circuit on one side and a TS circuit on the other. Great pedal for 70$!

Yeah. I agree the uk block was a little more with the 25w setup. Both sound good tho.

Ahh Haaa! I spy More Guitars on the floor 💥😬 Usually we only see the wall hangers! You’ve been holding out on us! Cool comparison. Both do sound darn fine in your hands, and as you often state, to the off stage listeners, no one would hear the difference, because they can’t believe the AWSOME playing going on😱😱😱😱 💥💥💪💪👍👍

That's really interesting I have SB UK and as you are no doubt aware that on the 9 volts you cant get the volume. So using the headrush being powered and using on board volume to boost the volume for a "amp in room" behind you or a monitor , then xlr out to fog. Is that loud enough? That's what I love about the super block UK, I have a battery pack under the pedal which powers a few pedals also. I use that at home to practice and it lasts ages I reckon it wound see a gig through on one full charge. But dont bother because of the volume issue but as you have shown it's possible. Only draw back for me is will have to get an frfr. Great video great content 😀🤘

FOH haha
@j-man945713 күн бұрын
@@martynrandall7652 it's plenty loud when lined out. The one watt is amplified by the FOH. My headrush speaker is my stage monitor. Whatever you're using for a monitor, or inner ears, should be fine...

This is confusing. I thought the greeny sounded best the way it was set.

@@barackmycat9448 yeah I agree! That's why I said at the end had I known beforehand what the tonal differences were, I would not have purchased the Directamp!
@Johnny.D13 күн бұрын
I assume you have run a 9v to power the units regardless whether you run direct or use the power amp? Only asking cause the way you describe it is a bit ambiguous. They are great little amps//pre-amps. They use to sell a little pedal sized 45w amp years ago. That was impressive for early 2000s technology. The tones are different between the 2 units but both sound great. You probably didn't need to buy the DI version.
@j-man945713 күн бұрын
@@Johnny.D yeah these are like a pedal at 9 volts. Any device of this type will need a power source! The super block has it's own adapter the PSA-24 and its own plug in on the back of the superblock. This gives you the amplifier power which runs at 25 Watts on an 8ohm load! Yup the DirectAmp is not necessary if you already have a superblock in my opinion... I'll probably end up selling it hahaha!
