The Cub sounds amazing, but equally as important Jay always plays so positive and with such authority. Thanks Jay for another great review of this more than capable little amp.

Compared this against the Roland Blues Cube 30 watt version and Fender Blues JR. And this is what won and what I walked out of the store with. It sounds better at lower volumes than both, gets significantly louder, costs about the same, is lighter than both, has a better and more versatile sound (3 amps in 1!), and takes pedals well. I’m utterly blown away that this amp isn’t getting more attention.

If you have a speaker cab available, Quilter has a Superblock UK that emulates Marshal, Vox, etc. It's only 25 watts, but the demos I've heard sound great.

Quilter is probably selling every amp they can build but it would be nice to see some different finish options.....like red, orange, alligator, western etc. My personal choice would be black western with a wicker grille.

Been looking for a replacement for my 20 year old Fender Cyber Deluxe 65W, although it still sounds good, I've been looking at the Tone Master's and the Tone King's Gremlin, needing a great sounding amp at low volume some of the time. Can anyone confirm with certitude that this amp delivers with overdrive at low volume, cheers. P.S. wicked rhythmic style, great playing!

Does he have to come right flat out and tell you everything? Give him some moneyyyy...I was already leaning towards a purchase, but ending the demo with an homage to England's Loudest Band basically sealed the deal. I will be buying the UK version though for the higher gain Marshall setting.

Is there a way to use an external switch to access the different voicings on the fly? Thanks!
@oodatp9993 жыл бұрын
An ABC box would do it. That's how people would traditionally switch between the Normal and Vibrato channels on a classic Fender amp by using an AB or ABY box. Pretty simple solution for this. But, the only downfall is that the voicings are different, so you'd likely want different EQ settings - especially on the tweed channel.
@chrismariner133 жыл бұрын
Males sense. Thank you!
@schmoemi33863 жыл бұрын
I would've added a switch to change voicings instead of 3 input jacks... seems much more convenient to me
@oodatp9993 жыл бұрын
I think the use case scenario for being able to change them on the fly is really limited by not being able to have independently set the gain and EQ levels, or even just the EQ levels. It would be nice if there was a way to save the EQ settings to a particular amp, then that would sort of accomplish that. But on a combo this cheap that's probably just asking for too much, really, because you'd essentially have a 3 channel amp...

Is the direct out cab emulated? If so, what cab are you emulating? 1x12? Thanks

Not enough gain, but it plays well with distortion/overdrive pedals. For a little heavier gain, try Mach 3. www.quilterlabs.com/collections/guitar-combos/products/aviator-mach-3-combo

I hope this sounds better than the Fender Tonemasters. Fender is ticking me off by only releasing tweeked versions of their initial Deluxe and Twin offerings, I was hoping for a Tweed Bassman Tonemaster with all the processing power aimed at making the cranked sounds as convincing as possible. Convolution reverb is nice but the Tonemasters don't flick my Bic unless they can nail the cranked and partial breakup tones!

Can someone answer this question: How are the input voicings created, as a circuit? Is it modeling, or analog filters, EQ sort of thing, etc.? I'm curious what is happening to the signal, before it hits the first gain stage in the preamp. Thanks!
@jacosmusic3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think is something about the input circuitry before the gain and eq sections that affects the amp “behavior”, like freq filtering and/or transient response. Hope that helps!
