I always wondered how that would work! And SURPRISE! I already had the bias ruler and did not know how to use it yet! Win! Win! Yay, me!

Not everyone have been quilting forever and these are very helpful. Different ways to do things and then figure out what works best for each individual. I love the 101 videos.

Splendid Ladies. I love the 101 class ideas. The explanation and demonstration are fabulous. I really appreciate the time and questions that we would be asking, if we were there. Great job! Thank you for sharing this with us, Natalie and Courtney.🪡🧵✂️🪻🎉💖🍀🙏🤟🦓😉 Liz

Great video! I'm getting ready to bind my quilt soon so timing could not have been better. Thank you!

Glue stick and clips!

And I would have premarked the corners and points where the stitching needs to make the turns! But I’m an old dog and many times revert back to ways I was taught way back in 1979-80 when I first started with my quilting lessons!!

I done a 2inch, I'll have to try the 1 1/2 inch.

I think I would go with the 1 1/2 inch width for the binding even if the quilt sandwich isn’t so thick. That gives more fabric to work with when turning & doing the hand stitching. Easier to get a nice finish. The single fold does reduce the bulk but I would still do double fold on placemats. Mine are in the wash every week.

I’m going to need to stick with straight edges. I wondered how you would do those kind of edges. Thanks

There is also a method of finishing the edges like these without using a binding at all - but it usually requires hand stitching! I’d never make bias binding this particular way with those many strips to sew!

I’ve always wondered why binding strips are sewed together with a diagonal seam, not just straight across. Can anyone tell me why? It seems more complicated. I’ve done several bindings sewing the strips together straight across the ends and they work just fine.

It looks double fold to me. What makes it single and not double?

A single fold binding will eventually wear out sooner than a double fold.

True, true. Nothing new here, plus with her method there are too many pieces to sew, too many seams.

So many many years ago I learned how,to cut bias binding without cutting strips! I need to refresh my brain but there was only one seam creating a tube. The cutting lines were marked in the fabric first, then there was a diagonal cit, sew the seam with offset lines. I used to hang it in the end of a regular ironing board as it was easier to turn. This is a very quick telling and now I need to look online as I’m sure it’s somewhere! I dint like sewing so many seams. I think🤭👍 it’s called Continuous Bias Binding??!! And yes, single fold will wear out faster if an item will be washed many times - like placemats and hit pads! I’d use a double fold binding for that - BUT it does make life easier when adding binding to quilts without straight edges! 😊

I don't see the benefit to this technique. Glad to see how to cut bias binding

Way too hard working with such a tiny piece of binding. Not for me!

The worse part of making a quilt is doing the binding so let's make it even more miserable by using a 1 1/4 inch single fold on a jagged edge with an expensive machine that has no manual presser foot lift, LOL. No thanks.
