Thank you for the lighting tip. When I'm having a problem seeing my stitches, I always assumed it was more lighting I needed. I have side lamps, I will try those. Learning so much from your videos. 🧵🪡✂️

Thanks Morgan! Yes, less light and diffued (either side or back) will actually make it easier to see. :)

Love this! I struggle to see the lighter-weight threads. What kind of side lighting do you use. I noticed in a different video you had something blue attached to your machine. I own a 2006 Millie and have the old lighting system.

Our new models have a long light mounted to the underside of the top of the throat area so we can turn off the needle light and that creates back lighting. I used to use a floor model Ott light with a goose neck and have it shine from the side across my quilt. That works too.

Thank you Tracey. Love your videos and love that you share your wonderful quilting abilities. I do have a question though. I have an 2019 Millie and you said you set your stitches per inch at 10. How do you determine that? I know I can lower or increase my stitches but I have never seen an actual number on my machine anywhere!?!

Thank you so much for the kind words Lucille! I appreciate the kind words. When I said "10" in the video, I had my SR turned off and was in manual mode so I had the motor (Lucey doesn't have electronic controls) set on the dial to 10 which is basically right in the middle. Your Millie is factory set to 11 SPI (stitches per inch) but you can change that by holding down the less stitches or more stitches buttons on your control panel. At the end of the day, I very rarely use numbers when filming videos because working in manual mode is a very personal thing and each quilter needs to find the sweet spots for their cadence of quilting. You will have different speeds you are comfortable with for different applications as well. I have a video about turning off the stitch regulator. You can watch that video by clicking here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6m4dJSYn9J6etE

It's part of my online class. The class is all about the quilting but it also comes with piecing instructions for the full quilt. This is block 11 of 12. The link to the class options are in the description above. :)

Is this for an art piece, rather than a bed quilt? I like tight work like this - but I worry about the guide I recently learned: “don’t quilt all the air out of your batting”, especially for bed type quilts.

This is better for a table runner or wall hanging rather than a bed quilt. It's one of the blocks in my online class. I love dense quilting too! :)
