Hi Angela I have made 100 days 100 blocks using Tula Pink’s fabrics. Sashing and border are purple. What colour of thread do I use for an overall quilting pattern?

Angela this is so beautiful!! I have a question that may seem rather 'primary'. This vid gave me an idea! I have a beautiful large to medium print floral fabric that I'm going to be covering my couch cushions with. And now I'm wondering if I should quilt the fabric b4 I make it into the cushion covers? So my question is, will the quilting make the fabric more durable, or will it cause it to be less durable?? Thanks so much for ALL your great ideas ❤

I just did a quilted cushion with a zipper. I only quilted the front and then cut it to size for the cushion cover. I, then, piped it, and then sewed the sides on. I then finished it with the zippered bottom layer. It was a lot of fun and I think that you will enjoy doing it.

@@teressab.8085 My couch has back and seat cushions which can be flipped n rotated. I would prolly quilt all sides. And the front edge of seats n top edge of backs I will pipe (an upgraded look). The fabric is high-end upholstery fabric. So that's why I'm wondering if all the stitching from quilting will make it less durable?

I just finished quilting 2 large chunks of fabric to make bench cushions. I plan on quilting all sides of the cushions. Mine is an all over floral, smaller than what is on Angela’s panel. Mine is quilting cotton. I think the batting and backing will make it stronger. I started out with quilting the first chunk of fabric in a grid pattern for the tops and bottoms of the cushions. I’m pretty new to longarm quilting and thought that wd be easier for me. It was, sort of. I’m on an Amara; don’t hv prostitcher or electronic channel locks. The manual channel locks kept falling off, and even when they didn’t, they didn’t keep very straight rows. So I switched to using rulers, and that went much better. However I started to get really bored doing that grid! So when I got to the second chunk of fabric, which I was going to use for the sides of the cushions, I decided to quilt detail on the flowers, instead, similar to what Angela just showed on her flowers; only it was before she put this video out. I figured my thread matched the fabric so well that nobody was going to see my quilting very well anyway and I thought it would be good practice for free motion quilting; so that’s what I did. It turned out great! It gave lovely dimension to my flowers and I actually like it better than the grid. I showed my friend (I was worried abt my quilting skills) and she basically said, puleeeeze! It looks gorgeous! 😂 My thinking was that it would be great practice and since no one‘s going to see the inside of the cushions I wouldn’t have to worry if it didn’t look that great on the back, lol! You know, like on a real quilt, where people can flip it over and see both sides? I highly doubt anyone is going to get down there with a magnifying glass and look at my bench cushions; let alone notice that I have a different quilting design on the front edges, versus the top and bottom of the cushions! And if they do, I’m going to tell them that it’s supposed to be that way! 😂 I think quilting it will make your fabric stronger. PS: I haven’t made my cushions yet, (one chunk is still on the frame, along with some smaller projects~I loaded them all on a solid background) but I plan to serge the edges of my quilted fabric and pre-wash it, bf cutting out my pieces. That way, my cushion covers will be washable and I won’t have to worry about them shrinking to be too small to fit back on the cushions, in the future! However, your decorator weight fabric may be treated with something like Scotchgard, so you might want to take that into consideration before deciding whether to pre-wash it or not. @@susanmei9980 I would do the same Susan and tell anybody that does happen to notice that it's meant to be that way! I'm sure once the cushions are done it'll look purposely designed that way. Yes, being that this is an upholstery fabric, it is treated and therefore I'm kinda thinking not to wash it first. Plus I bought it so long ago that it's probably not even available anymore, in case I needed extra. So lots of planning before I cut & stitch! Thanks for all your great information, it's very helpful! And best of luck with your long arm!! I wish I had space for one. 💐
