Never heard of the Cutie frame. Looks real neat and easy to use by your tutoring. Stay safe. Walk in Peace.

Thank you! There is a Cutie Quilters group on Facebook if you are interested. It really is a great frame if you are tight on space.

I have my eye on the Cutie frame , but I plan on starting with my home machine. Did you start in the center of the quilt so the Pantagraph would be center? How did you make sure your quilt was straight? Thanks. You did a great a job.
@amanda_badger2 жыл бұрын
I did my first quilt using the Juki TL2000qi. It worked well but I really wanted more than 5" of quiltable space. I started in the upper top left corner of my quilt. I used reference lines in my quilt and matched those up with the bars of the cutie frame. When I placed my Cutie frame on the table I made sure it was parallel with the table and then made sure my pantograph was parallel to the table too. This ensured as best I could that it would be straight. I did have a couple instances where I had to rehoop the quilt because it wasn't quite straight. But I was able to easily tell when I did the reference point check to the previous row. Let me know if that answers your question or if you have anymore!

@@amanda_badger Thank you. I have a Janome with an 11 inch throat space, so I'm going to start with that and maybe one day I can get a 19 inch. Did you spray base your sandwich first?
@amanda_badger2 жыл бұрын
@@debrablue6115 I still pin baste. I've never been a big spray baster. I know there are some in the Cuties group on Facebook that don't baste at all. I haven't gotten that comfortable yet :)

Hi Amanda! Great tutorial! I am waiting for my Cutie frame to come in and my stitch regulator.I will be putting my Baby Lock Jazz II on the frame. My question is how can you determine if the pantograph is going to end perfectly at the end of the quilt ?( last row of stitching)What if you only have space for the top half of the pantograph?
@amanda_badger2 жыл бұрын
I just stitch the portion of the pantograph that is on the quilt. I will then travel on the extra fabric used to clamp on the quilt to get to the next part of the pantograph that's on my quilt top. I hope that makes sense.
@susiebarton9174 Жыл бұрын
The split screen was a little hard to watch for me.I see you are stitching vertically not horizontally.So I guess if another full design won’t fit in your last could you should just have extra batting so the last bit can be stitched.I have reworded it so maybe you can understand me better.I am a beginner.
@susiebarton9174 Жыл бұрын
Sorry I got totally confused,you are stitching horizontally.Hopefully I’ll figure it out when I get to try it.

@@susiebarton9174 I hope so too. I was trying to show what the machine was doing as well as what was happening on the quilt top itself. Next time I do a pantograph I'll try to record a video that shows the last row. Let me know if you have any other questions when you try it.

Great video! Does your design fit the throat space of your long arm?
@amanda_badger2 жыл бұрын
My machine has an 18" throat space. I would say about 15" of that is quiltable on the frame. This design is about 9" high. I haven't tried it but I'm sure there would be a way to apply these principles to a design larger than your throat space.

These were two separate designs from www.urbanelementz.com/ that I adjusted and put together using Silhouette Studio. They have a really good selection of printable pantographs.

What machine do you have?
@amanda_badger2 жыл бұрын
I have the Juki Miyabi 350. It has an 18" throat space. I did need to purchase a different base for it to fit on the cutie. The quilting steps should work for any machine you would just want your pantograph to fit in the throat of the machine you are using.
