I can identify with Asmon's living situation. My parents never threw anything away and whenever something broke it would usually stay broken. When you grow up living that way it becomes natural. I live elsewhere now, but sometimes someone will ask me "when are you going to clean x/y/z?" and I will realize I've let something get too dirty or disorganized. I guess you can build up a tolerance for uncleanliness when you are born in it and molded by it. Asmon says he doesn't mind it, but I resent it after dealing with it my whole life. The problem is it's a constant struggle to escape the habits we learn as kids.

For a couple thousand dollars he could hire someone to come into his home and clean up the actual filth, then for another $10,000 to 20,000 he could remodel his home to decent standards. There are some people like that, they don't know what normal is and everyone around him accept his standards and have no reason to offer encouragement because he stated his standards up front and if you don't accept his standards, you aren't part of his world. I blame his mother, she obviously had no cleanly standards and didn't force them on Asmongold. Perhaps that is why the father left her, he couldn't live that way any longer. Either way, Asmongold needs to grow up, stop living the eccentric life and show some respect to not only himself, but others around him by cleaning up his mess. Sorry, but dead rats, bugs and dirty sinks is not healthy. I knew a girl who had family that lived in the same type of messy home, if not worse conditions and eventually the landlord tore the house down and they were forced to move.

Pro tip: Get TWO dishwashers. Almost negates any need for cabinets. Not a big added cost for the plumbing, and your two dishwashers will last you twice as long, so the total expense over time is the same. Don't regret it for a second, if you can afford it right away. If you build a new kitchen or renovate one, its brilliant. Clean things in one, dirty in the other

Leave the poor guy alone. It's really easy for every one of you to make unfounded claims that Asmon's depressed or that he's suffering from X or Y condition. But at the end of the day, none of you know him personally. You only see things from the outside, and have absolutely no idea what things are really like on the inside. He has said multiple times that he is happy and doesn't feel the need to change his lifestyle. His boundaries and decisions must be respected, for better or worse, regardless of your own view point. It's his life to live after all, not yours for f**k sakes. But besides that, even if he truly does have a problem you cannot provide help to someone who to begin with: (A. Doesn't want any help), and (B. Doesn't want to help themselves).

In fact this is actually pretty good I didn't see any collapsed ceilings the bathrooms all seem to work I didn't see any Portable AC units in the windows and its an actual house not a trailer....but when we all reach death and look back on our lives nobody is going to regret not spending more of their life cleaning. There is a very simple cleaning tip I got for people with messy apartments. Whenever you for example leave your room for the kitchen, bring something with you and put the dishes and the trash where it belongs. Program your mind to not leave a room with trash or dishes in it without bringing it with you, never leave a room empty handed unless there's literally nothing that needs sorting out. Voila you've just improved how your home looks with almost no effort, basically not a single step extra than you usually take. You will of course need to properly clean your home eventually because of dust and so on but for that, I advice you to just take like 10-30 minutes and focus on one room maybe once a week, next week take another room and so on. Do this and your home will always look presentable, it wont be pristine but it will be perfectly acceptable.
