Great interview but why didn't he mention the Stax Label with all their brilliant artists?

Stax wasn't around during the time of his influences. Stax was founded in 1957 and he's naming artists that influenced him such as Basie, Duke, and Louis Armstrong. So naming Stax and their artists as his influences would have made no sense.
