lol i totally get jason's perspective. i much prefer clean wood trays but i do a lot of custom carving. currently doing an entirely over elaborate mollymauk themed tray carved with all of his tattoos. it's fun but nothing like letting the wood speak for itself. The trick is getting woods that constract the walls AND the leather being used well.

It makes sense and is perfectly fair. The "cost" of you guys giving reviews on people's products is one of the products. The reviews are good and super helpful to people working in the craft. Ian and Doug had some great advice on the box, but why are single wood bottom and back boxes not good? I am self-learning CNC and one of the first tutorials was a dice-box in which the bottom and top are each one piece. Is that because the large surface area of the wood becomes exposed and warp/shrink itself to pieces?
@volinarsworkshop4818
@volinarsworkshop4818 4 жыл бұрын
It can it depends on how you attach them. They good quality ply one because their bottoms are fully recessed so the sides arent showing and two because the layers are crisscrossed grain which makes them very stable to environmental change. Theres tricks to mitigate the effect but wood moves is a fact of owning such things.

@@WyrmLyfe Thank you. Like I said I am self-learning and a novice so that helps. I am assuming there are size limits and such to learn. It was amusing to hear the conversation when one of the first tutorials I am learning is what they said not to do, a 3in. carve out dice box.
@RoseKindred
@RoseKindred 4 жыл бұрын
@@volinarsworkshop4818 Thank you for the advice, I did know about wood moving but did not think about thickness or such. One of the first CNC projects I am learning is a 3in. single-piece of wood dice box. Finished down it would be 2in. and 1/2in. cover.

@@volinarsworkshop4818 Sorry for bugging you again but would you be able to point me somewhere that can help explain the issues? @corporealghoul

Because they know they would be told to not send it and they wanted free advertising. Wyrmwood guys would have likely said "okay then dont send use that piece. Send us something we can keep" and then the sender would have to decide if he wanted to pay for advertising or not. If you ask me... the cost of a vault or 2 dice trays is easily worth a quick ad to 68k+ subscribers. That's some shady business practice. I know who I wont buy from.

But maybe you should have stated this requirement prior to asking people to send shit to you. But I get it. But also, what if someone wants you guys to see a piece they're super proud of? Something that may impress you guys. That epic piece that they slaved over and proudly display in their game room? Of course they're going to want it back. Maybe tell them up front that if they want it back, they need to pay for the shipping themselves. Or send in their stuff with a prelabeled box to send it back? Just a thought. But I love that you guys are doing this. Sucks that I haven't had time to work on any of my new stuff yet. Hopefully you guys will make this a regular segment so I can send some stuff in later.

when Quinn critiques a piece its like watching an apex predator killing its prey, When Jason critiques things its more like a pack animal picking on a sick and dying of old age animal... It's not really that different it's just that Quinn is magnificent at it and you have to respect that.

Now I want to send you guys a spell tome that I made, but since I won’t get it back, I’ll just have to make another. It’s real leather on the cover and I stain the papers, then bind them all by hand. I’ll emboss your logo into the front too! It’ll take me a while because of covid and school and stuff, but it’s coming. But what colors, I’m wondering... 🤔

That sounds awesome! We can't wait to see it. Any colors you'd like 😁

Quinn is loved for being critical because it's kinda her job. She is the quality associate, if she's not being critical then she's not doing it right. Lol
