lol i totally get jason's perspective. i much prefer clean wood trays but i do a lot of custom carving. currently doing an entirely over elaborate mollymauk themed tray carved with all of his tattoos. it's fun but nothing like letting the wood speak for itself. The trick is getting woods that constract the walls AND the leather being used well.

Ian and Doug had some great advice on the box, but why are single wood bottom and back boxes not good? I am self-learning CNC and one of the first tutorials was a dice-box in which the bottom and top are each one piece. Is that because the large surface area of the wood becomes exposed and warp/shrink itself to pieces?
@volinarsworkshop48184 жыл бұрын
It can it depends on how you attach them. They good quality ply one because their bottoms are fully recessed so the sides arent showing and two because the layers are crisscrossed grain which makes them very stable to environmental change. Theres tricks to mitigate the effect but wood moves is a fact of owning such things.
@WyrmLyfe4 жыл бұрын
Yes, correct. That's exactly why they said you should stay away from doing that
@RoseKindred4 жыл бұрын
@@WyrmLyfe Thank you. Like I said I am self-learning and a novice so that helps. I am assuming there are size limits and such to learn. It was amusing to hear the conversation when one of the first tutorials I am learning is what they said not to do, a 3in. carve out dice box.
@RoseKindred4 жыл бұрын
@@volinarsworkshop4818 Thank you for the advice, I did know about wood moving but did not think about thickness or such. One of the first CNC projects I am learning is a 3in. single-piece of wood dice box. Finished down it would be 2in. and 1/2in. cover.

@@volinarsworkshop4818 Sorry for bugging you again but would you be able to point me somewhere that can help explain the issues? @corporealghoul4 жыл бұрын
Because they know they would be told to not send it and they wanted free advertising. Wyrmwood guys would have likely said "okay then dont send use that piece. Send us something we can keep" and then the sender would have to decide if he wanted to pay for advertising or not. If you ask me... the cost of a vault or 2 dice trays is easily worth a quick ad to 68k+ subscribers. That's some shady business practice. I know who I wont buy from.
