Quinton meadows and local nature reserve - Birmingham

I explore Quinton meadows that is split by the M5 and the express way . The land is dating back to when it was all farmland it has remained original for many years not taken back for housing . the land is connected to the back end of woodgate valley country park .

Quinton Meadows is all that remains of an ancient farm landscape that once dominated this area to the south-west of Birmingham. Tracing its history back to the 13th century, it once formed part of land belonging to the nearby Halesowen Abbey and was also once owned by Howley Grange Farm.

I used to play over quinton meadows when i was a kid back then it was a massive area all those buildings you could see through the fence was all part of it including the houseing estate that leads to ridgeachre rd west.

That's crazy shame bits and pieces have took over the land could imagine was bigger didn't know this existed till other day nice bit of land tbh.

When you go back stay on that side of the road cross the Rd where those offices are situated and walk up the gully which runs up the side of those buildings this brings you out to another field and a access bridge the farmer used for his tractors and combine harvester.

I worked by Woodgate Valley Country Park for four years but never took the full advantage of walking in there and have only briefly been there since. I do need to go back there I'd not really taken much notice that there was Quinton Meadows which was separate

It's lovely here bud Ill go back in summer and explore the other part of it . Didn't know about Quinton meadows till few days ago so the woodgate area is bigger than what I thought . Definitely worth another walk over there could spend many hours

I called into Bill's mothers that day, it was absolutely pissing down 😂. It was a shame they allowed the business park to be built, depite much protest at the time.

Hey Drew that was a great video of my backyard as a kid growing up there was 5 farmers fields back in the day before that building was put up and you could walk through that tunnel to the other side a woodgate valley looking forward to the summer video thanks

Thanks mate glad you enjoyed this one mad how big it was back then shame they built that business park but I'm glad they didn't take back on the current land . Be much better in summer as I can drone and get better footage of the fields
