To be fair, you need to have a really high IQ to get the joke “I’m from Burbank”. It’s a reference to the well-known fact that Burbank is indeed “the animation capital of the world”, and “Dragons and Lizardmen, Part I” is technically a stop-motion animated film. It’s a subconscious acknowledgement of irony, due to the movie’s priority of creative stream of consciousness over structural integrity, something that animators are often criticized doing in their independent film projects. I wrote this as a joke at first, but I think it’s likely just a reference to Nicktoons Network’s original bumper slogan. Remember that? That was awesome!!

If i recall, i found you either a bit before, or very shortly after the first one was made. I think before! I associate your content most strongly with your movie reviews actually, especially your fairly oddparents live action movie review. I suppose it surprises me because while i feel that fallen titans is good, and super interesting, i dont think that it puts your best qualities on display necessarily. Yeah, I was just about to post that. Like my first experience was with I think the last Fairly Oddparents movie and there was some drama stuff off to the side, like the Logan Paul video, but I considered it more of like a nostalgia review channel for a while. Like a lot of the content felt like it was either about old internet humor or Garfield or whatever and Fallen Titans fell into that idea, so it never really stood out to me as THE Quinton series.

Also I think my thing with contrapoints cancellation is from what I saw it was coming from her venting on something that was personally bothering her and somewhat understandably but with absolutely no wider perspective. Like she basically said that she shouldn't be asked about her gender because she has an outwardly feminine appearance and body structure, and I get when you've invested so much into being comfortable in your body getting this reminder from people like somehow you'll never be a true woman is frustrating, but she completely threw pre-transition and nonbinary people out the window, and when so much of her content is about uplifting the gender spectrum it must have been really disheartening to hear that this person seemingly does not care about you. It's a shame and I don't think its necessarily representative of her as a whole but I see why people are mad.

contra points at this point has a long history of saying and doing problematic things, that she could probably come back from if she was just honest, apologised, and promised to try and be better. Instead she burns the evidence, she and her friends always tweet about how she's being bullied because "she only made a mistake" without any real apology in sight. Rince, repeat. Everytime. To the point that her critics are constantly being gasslit that she never said those things, we're just making it up, because she never says What she is "apologising" for, only that she's being dogpiled on for "just making mistake". Like overall i don't see Contra as cancelled per se, and not for any specific "mistake". But i am well and truly done with her due to her repeated and persistent behaviour and failure to own up or apologise.

I had an uncle who shot movies on super 8, a regular Mike Jittlov, and it was a huge event to bring out the projector at family get-togethers even long after he passed away (cops didn't know how to deal with schizophrenia, ACAB for life). Honestly Quentin, as a victim of S/A all in my childhood, high school years, and even in my adulthood, I think that scene (from what I can tell) sounded really impactful and like- no one should be ashamed to have made it, even if it wasn’t written by an actual victim and instead was by 3 random teenage dudes. Like, in all honesty, considering the fact that it’s /mostly/ cis dudes who are the assaulters in those situations, it’s actually kind of comforting to know there are guys out there (especially teenagers at that) who understand to some extent how S/A can effect women, and that they cared enough to go out of their way to try and emphasize that in some school film.

Weird amateur film stuff is kind of what I liked this channel for in the first place lmao so seeing it come back in this retrospective is really nice. There's a certain atmosphere to the early videos like the Narnia let's plays which feel really chill and kind of nostalgic that in a way I miss but also becomes more effective knowing that the content has evolved and developed as time goes on.
